• LANCE October 2026 - January 2027 Show Season Audition Form

  • Thank you for your interest in auditioning for LANCE Orlando! We are a non-profit stage combat troupe based in Orlando, Florida, seeking volunteer stage combatants, interactive characters, and crew members over the age of 18. 

    • Interested in Stage Combat? Only our current membership tested out of our Unarmed curriculum will be in consideration for all fighting roles for Harvest Haunt 2026, ORF 2026, and SCRF 2027, but all are welcome to join us for our open enrollment Spring Training in 2027!
    • No stage combat experience? No problem! We need improv performers and atmosphere characters! These roles are vital to making our worlds come alive!
    • Prefer something backstage? We'd love to have you! Crew roles are so important for the success of the shows!

  • SCREAM QUEENS

  • Our cast will provide one scripted tournament show on the weekends of the event, October 17th, 18th, 24th, & 25th. The event is located at Space Coast Daily Park in Viera, FL. 

    Show Synopsis:

    When the mischievous Jack O'Lantern arrives to host the annual Scream Queen Tournament, monsters, spirits, and legends from across the realms of horror gather to compete for Halloween's highest honor. Among them is Autumn Night, a late-arriving outsider whose determination and Final Girl spirit quickly make her a crowd favorite—and a threat to Salem Graves, Jack's loyal enforcer who believes the crown should already be hers. As rivalries grow and tensions rise, the tournament descends into chaos when Salem abandons her role as steward and seizes her chance at glory, forcing Autumn Night to face her for the crown. Filled with thrilling stage combat, memorable Halloween characters, and spooky seasonal spectacle, Scream Queens is a high-energy celebration of horror storytelling where courage, ambition, and perseverance collide beneath the Harvest Moon.

    Everyone auditioning for the siren character Ligeia Delmore will be asked to perform a 10-second melodic vocalization as a "siren song" during the monologue portion of auditions.

  • RIGHT TO RULE

  • Our cast will provide atmosphere entertainment at the festival, as well as perform in two scripted chessboard shows each day of the festival, December 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 19th, & 20th. The festival is located at Southport Community Park in Orlando, FL. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all cast and crew the days of the shows. 

    Show Synopsis:

    The year is sometime in the early 1590s. Irish chieftain Gráinne Ní Mháille — known to the English as pirate queen Grace O‘Malley — has come to Orlando with her family and friends to celebrate the birthday of her long-time friend Duchess Rose. Unbeknownst to the Duchess, the Duke has invited the renowned Queen Elizabeth I to the festivities. Queen Elizabeth has a small retinue in tow, including Richard Bingham, Governor of Connacht, who has held a long-standing grudge against Gráinne. Gráinne sees this as the perfect opportunity to negotiate with Queen Elizabeth for the freedom of her people. The Duchess offers the Chessboard Stage as the ideal place.

    Tensions at the negotiations break into a melee. Gráinne ends the brawl with a shout and The Duchess suggests a game of Battle Chess. Richard calls for the White Side, Gráinne calls for the Black Side, and Queen Elizabeth watches with the Duke and Duchess. By the end of the match, Gráinne has Richard’s king piece cornered. A scuffle breaks out, during which Gráinne’s eldest son is critically wounded. Things are brought to a halt and The Queen orders a recess, proposing that they reconvene later in the day.

    Upon returning to the stage, Queen Elizabeth calls for a new game that she herself will play against Gráinne. Richard continually disrupts the game. After an elegant back and forth, Gráinne wins against The Queen. Richard refuses to accept defeat and, with The Queen's permission, Gráinne proposes a one-on-one duel — winner takes all. She wins the fight. Having earned The Queen’s respect, Gráinne accepts Queen Elizabeth’s invitation to return to England to finalize negotiations. All in attendance are encouraged to enjoy the peace in Orlando for the rest of the festival.

  • In order to be in the Melee, you are required to be present for Melee weekend. This is for writing clarity and performer safety. This can include helping to cue other cast members for cheers and clearing prop weapons off the board when necessary. Gray Siders are also primary drivers during preshow.   • Rehearsals are every Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting. Saturdays, rehearsal will be from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. Sundays, rehearsal will be from 9am to 11:30am. All rehearsals will be held at Cypress Grove Park in Orlando, FL (unless otherwise communicated by the production team), leading up to the dress rehearsal the last weekend of November and show the first three weekends of December, which will be held at Southport Community Park in Orlando, FL.

    A minimum of one weekend day of attendance is expected for all weekends your character is called, with prior communicated commitments counting as excused absences. Please be honest about your availability; the production team will do their best to work around or accommodate all previously-communicated conflicts.

  • AN UNEXPECTED ENGAGEMENT

  • Our cast will provide atmosphere entertainment at the festival, as well as perform in two scripted chessboard shows each day of the festival, January 9th, 10th, 16th, & 17th. The festival is located at Space Coast Daily Park in Viera, FL. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all cast and crew the days of the shows. 

    Show Synopsis:

    During a visit to the Lands of Viera for a grand celebration hosted by the Count and Countess, several powerful families arrive from Rome with gifts and their impressive entourages. Among them are The Borgias, The Medicis, and The d’Estes. What begins as courtly pageantry quickly unravels into open conflict between the Borgias and their particular rivals: The Medici family. As Battle Chess becomes the chosen outlet for their feud, an unexpected romance sparks between Lucrezia Borgia and Alphonso d’Este of Ferrara. Rodrigo is enraged at the prospect of losing his most valuable political bargaining chip, his daughter, while Lorenzo Medici is delighted by the chance to be a thorn in the Borgias’ side. Little does Rodrigo know, Lucrezia helped bring the Medicis to Viera as part of her own plan to escape her family’s control.

  • GATE GUARDS

  • Our cast will provide atmosphere entertainment at the faire (mostly from the safety of a guard tower), January 16th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd, & 24th. The festival is located at the Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, FL. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all cast and crew the days of the shows. 

    What Are Gate Guards?

    The Hoggetowne Gate Guards are a rambunctious bunch. From the safety of their tower, they spend their days hurling good-natured, PG-rated insults at passersby and shamelessly soliciting tributes from patrons (kettle corn, beer tokens, etc.). Legend holds that being roasted by a Hoggetowne Gate Guard brings good luck, though where that curious tradition began is a mystery lost to time. The Guards themselves are more than happy to take credit for it.

    Of course, the Gate Guards' duties extend far beyond heckling. They lead the daily procession, serve as festival heralds at the opening gate, and generally make nuisances of themselves wherever they happen to be needed. Truly, is there anything a Hoggetowne Gate Guard can't do? The answer is yes. They are clinically incapable of bothering. It's a tragic condition, really.

  • FINAL CERTIFICATION

  • I, {preferredName}, am willing and able to attend the majority of rehearsal dates for the show(s) for which I am auditioning. I understand that I am responsible for borrowing, purchasing, creating, and otherwise obtaining my costume using resources at my disposal, including the LANCE inventory, and having it approved by the Production Team as the schedule dictates. I understand that this is a volunteer event, and I commit to working with the Production Team to ensure the integrity of the show. I will follow the LANCE Code of Conduct as well as all rules and regulations set forth by the Production Team, the LANCE Board of Governors, and the Event Organizers. I also promise to create, contribute to, and uphold a positive working atmosphere for all of my fellow cast members.

  • THE EIGHT RULES OF CASTING

    For transparency, we are including the rules by which we are casting the shows here.

  • 1. Creative Directors, Stage Managers, and Fight Directors may not be cast in Lead roles within their own productions.


    2. No member may be cast in Lead roles in more than two concurrent productions.


    3. No member may be cast as a Fighting Lead in more than one concurrent production.


    4. When casting Lead roles, Production Teams should consider a member's existing production responsibilities and casting commitments across all concurrent productions.


    5. When multiple candidates are substantially equal in suitability for a role, preference should be given to the candidate with fewer existing production responsibilities and Lead roles.


    6. Fighting Lead roles should be recognized as carrying greater rehearsal and performance commitments than Non-Fighting Lead roles and should be weighed accordingly when evaluating casting decisions.


    7. Fighters are capped at three full fights and one quick kill across all concurrent shows, not including melee.


    8. Leads must be available for all days of the show.
