- The call for nominations deadline is 16 August 23:59 UTC.
- Appointment start dates: SSG - January 2028; Panels - January 2027.
- Consideration criteria: scientific expertise relevant to the terms of reference of the SSG and panels; new SSG members are approved by the WCRP Joint Scientific Committee; panel members are approved by the CLIVAR SSG; scientifically qualified nominations that support gender and geographical balance and opportunities for scientists and researchers from developing countries are encouraged; early career scientists (PhD holders) with the required scientific background may also be considered to join CLIVAR.
- Service terms: 4 years for SSG members, 3 years for panel members, with possible 2-year extension.
- Membership is on a voluntary basis. Check the membership guidelines here.
By submitting a nomination, you (the “Nominee” / "Nominator") confirm your free and informed consent to the following data sharing practices:
1. Sharing with Review Panels and SSG Members
You agree that the information provided in your nomination (including personal details, professional background, and any other submitted materials) may be shared with:
The relevant panel, and Members of the Scientific Steering Group (SSG)
for the sole purpose of evaluating your nomination and determining suitability for appointment or participation.
2. Sharing with the WCRP and CLIVAR Database (upon appointment)
If you are appointed to a role you agree that your relevant nomination information may be shared with and stored in the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and CLIVAR database for administrative, coordination, and communication purposes.
