    Sunday 20th September 2026

What: a gentle guided cycle through Nether Edge arriving at Chelsea Park in time for the start of the Party in the Park.

    When: Sunday 20 September 2026 between 10am and 11am.

Where: We’ll start at Mount Pleasant Park (Sitwell Road entrance) and snake our way to the park, stopping to pick up riders along the way - we’ll share our route and ‘bike stops’ shortly. If there’s demand from other parts of Nether Edge we’ll try and run a few routes meeting at Meadow Bank Avenue before cycling the last part together.

Why: for people who want to cycle more locally - maybe you’re not confident riding alone, aren’t sure about the hills or just want the experience of riding in a group. All welcome!

Who: We’re aiming at adults who want to try cycling more. Children are absolutely welcome with an adult but need to be able to cycle up to a couple of miles (depending where you join from) at a gentle pace. We hope to have some limited space in cargo bikes for small children (and their wheels) who might get tired.

Expect: High-vis hero marshals to help keep the group together and stop traffic at junctions if necessary. A fun atmosphere with music and bubbles.

Getting home: we will have some bookable slots if you’d like one of our volunteers to cycle home with you in the afternoon.

Register your interest here to help us finalise our route. Free bike bell or trouser clips for first 20 people who sign up and attend on the day!

Once the route is finalised, we will contact you to ask which stop you would like to join us at. People can join on the day so please tell your friends. They will need to provide the details below at the bike stop if they aren’t already signed up.

  • Are you likely to need a cargo bike space for a small child?
  • Would you like to book an accompanied ride back home?
  • Do you want your name and email address to be added to Our Shared Streets’ (part of Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group) email mailing list?
  • Note: as this ride is funded by Cycling UK’s Bike Revival grants, if you ride with us on the day, we will need to share your name and email with Cycling UK. Cycling UK sends participants surveys to evidence how free sessions help people cycle more often locally, and to help continue funding for free events. You can opt out of receiving emails from Cycling UK when they contact you or by contacting bigbikerevival@cyclinguk.org

Our Shared Streets (part of Nether Edge Neighbourhood Group) will delete your details after the event unless you consent to us keeping them for the purpose of our email mailing list.
