As financial crime becomes increasingly transnational, technology-enabled and industrialized, compliance professionals face a rapidly evolving threat landscape that challenges traditional risk frameworks.

Organized by SFA's Compliance Community, this fireside chat brings together senior compliance practitioners from Singapore’s financial services, digital assets and payments sectors for a candid conversation with Dr Sungyong Kang, Criminal Intelligence Officer at INTERPOL.

Drawing on his investigative experience, Dr Kang will share frontline perspectives on emerging financial crime typologies, industrialized criminal networks, cryptocurrency-enabled crime, trafficking-linked scam operations, and the growing convergence of technology and illicit finance. The discussion will also explore how public-private intelligence sharing can be strengthened, where compliance efforts most often diverge from investigative realities, and what Singapore’s compliance community can learn from recent operational trends and the 2026 FATF Mutual Evaluation process.
