STAAC Athletics Kickball Rules, Waiver, Release of Liability & Participant Agreement
By registering for, participating in, attending, or being present at any STAAC Athletics kickball game, practice, tournament, event, or related activity, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to the following rules, waiver, release of liability, and participant agreement.-Ā
- League Rules & Expectations
STAAC Athletics is designed to be a fun, recreational, community-based kickball league. All players are expected to participate with good sportsmanship, respect, and common sense.
Participants agree to follow all league rules, field rules, facility rules, posted instructions, and directions given by STAAC Athletics staff, referees, umpires, volunteers, field representatives, or event organizers.
General league expectations include:
Players must be respectful toward referees, staff, teammates, opponents, spectators, and facility personnel.
Fighting, threats, aggressive behavior, harassment, bullying, or unsafe conduct will not be tolerated.
STAAC Athletics reserves the right to remove, suspend, or permanently ban any participant, team, or spectator for inappropriate conduct, unsafe behavior, rule violations, or actions that negatively impact the league.
Participants must wear appropriate athletic footwear. Metal cleats are not allowed.
Participants are responsible for bringing any personal items they need, including water, appropriate clothing, and any personal protective gear.
Participants should not play while injured, sick, impaired, or otherwise unable to safely participate.
Alcohol, smoking, vaping, weapons, illegal substances, and unsafe conduct are prohibited unless otherwise specifically allowed by the facility and league rules.
Participants agree to follow all posted field, park, city, and facility rules.
Game schedules, locations, weather updates, playoff formats, and league procedures may be adjusted by STAAC Athletics as needed.
STAAC Athletics reserves the right to make final decisions regarding eligibility, sportsmanship, forfeits, weather delays, cancellations, disputes, and rule interpretations.
Assumption of Risk
I understand and acknowledge that participating in kickball and related recreational activities involves inherent risks. These risks may include, but are not limited to:
Running, kicking, throwing, catching, sliding, tripping, falling, or colliding with other players, bases, balls, equipment, spectators, fences, uneven ground, or other objects;
Sprains, strains, bruises, cuts, scrapes, broken bones, concussions, heat-related illness, dehydration, exhaustion, illness, or other physical injury;
Weather-related risks, including heat, rain, lightning, wet fields, poor field conditions, or changing outdoor conditions;
Risks related to the actions or inactions of other participants, spectators, volunteers, officials, or third parties;
Damage, loss, or theft of personal property.
I understand that these risks may result in serious injury, permanent disability, death, property damage, or other loss. I voluntarily choose to participate with full knowledge of these risks.
Health & Fitness to Participate
I certify that I am physically able to participate in recreational kickball activities. I understand that it is my responsibility to determine whether I am healthy enough to participate.
I agree that I will not participate if I am injured, ill, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or otherwise unable to safely play. I understand that STAAC Athletics does not provide medical evaluations and is not responsible for determining whether I am physically fit to participate.
I understand that I am responsible for seeking medical advice from a physician or qualified healthcare provider if I have any concerns about my ability to safely participate.
Waiver, Release of Liability & Hold Harmless Agreement
In consideration of being allowed to register for, participate in, attend, or be present at any STAAC Athletics kickball league, game, tournament, practice, event, or related activity, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives, family members, assigns, and next of kin, voluntarily agree to release, waive, discharge, hold harmless, defend, and indemnify STAAC Athletics, its owners, organizers, officers, directors, staff, contractors, referees, umpires, volunteers, sponsors, partners, affiliates, facility owners, property owners, municipalities, parks departments, and any related parties from any and all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, attorney fees, causes of action, or expenses arising out of or related to my participation in or presence at STAAC Athletics activities.
This release includes, but is not limited to, claims involving personal injury, illness, disability, death, property damage, lost or stolen property, or other loss connected to participation in league activities, whether caused by ordinary negligence, the inherent risks of the activity, field conditions, equipment, other participants, spectators, officials, volunteers, or third parties, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
I understand that this agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by applicable law. I also understand that this waiver may not apply to conduct that cannot legally be waived, including gross negligence, willful misconduct, intentional acts, or other claims that cannot be released under applicable law.
Medical Treatment Authorization
If I am injured or become ill during a STAAC Athletics activity, I authorize STAAC Athletics staff, volunteers, officials, or representatives to seek emergency medical assistance if they believe it is necessary. I understand that STAAC Athletics is not required to provide medical care and may not have medical personnel on site.
I accept full responsibility for all medical expenses, emergency services, ambulance services, treatment, follow-up care, or related costs resulting from any injury or illness.
Photo, Video & Media Release
I grant STAAC Athletics permission to photograph, record, or video me during league games, events, tournaments, and related activities. I allow STAAC Athletics to use my name, image, likeness, voice, team name, and/or photographs or videos for social media, website content, advertising, promotions, recaps, sponsor materials, and other league-related purposes without compensation.
If I do not want my image used, I understand that I must notify STAAC Athletics in writing before participating.
Weather, Cancellations & Schedule Changes
I understand that STAAC Athletics may delay, cancel, reschedule, or modify games or events due to weather, field conditions, safety concerns, facility issues, registration numbers, or other circumstances.
I understand that outdoor sports are subject to changing weather and field conditions. I agree to follow league communications and instructions regarding delays, cancellations, reschedules, and safety procedures.
Payment, Refunds & Team Placement
I understand that registration fees, deposits, payment deadlines, refund policies, roster requirements, and team placement procedures will be determined by STAAC Athletics and communicated during the registration process.
I understand that free agents and small groups will be placed on teams based on availability, roster needs, registration numbers, and league discretion. STAAC Athletics will make reasonable efforts to place players, but team placement is not guaranteed unless confirmed by the league.
Code of Conduct Agreement
I agree to participate in a way that reflects the purpose of STAAC Athletics: fun, recreational competition, community, and sportsmanship.
I understand that unacceptable behavior may result in warnings, removal from a game, suspension, forfeiture, removal from the league, or permanent ban without refund.
Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:
Fighting or physical aggression;
Threats, intimidation, or harassment;
Excessive arguing with officials or staff;
Disrespect toward players, referees, spectators, or staff;
Unsafe play or intentionally causing harm;
Damage to property or facilities;
Discrimination, hate speech, or abusive language;
Playing while intoxicated or impaired;
Refusing to follow league or facility rules.
Agreement to Electronic Signature
By checking the agreement box, submitting my registration, signing electronically, or participating in any STAAC Athletics activity, I acknowledge that my electronic agreement has the same force and effect as a handwritten signature.
I confirm that I have read this entire agreement, understand its terms, understand that I am giving up certain legal rights, and voluntarily agree to be bound by it.
