• What is Zionism?

    A Four-Session Adult Learning Series
  • Temple Israel (Canton, Ohio)

    Wednesdays, July 8, 15, 22 & 29
    12:00–1:00 p.m.
at Beit Ha’am and via Zoom

Few words in contemporary Jewish life generate more confusion, disagreement, passion, and misunderstanding than Zionism. What did Zionism originally mean? How did it emerge from Jewish history? Why did different Jews embrace different forms of Zionism? How has Zionism evolved since the establishment of the State of Israel? And what does Zionism mean today?

This four-part series traces Zionism from its biblical roots to the present day, examining the movement's historical development, competing definitions, major thinkers, critics, and contemporary challenges. Participants will explore original sources, historical events, and diverse Jewish perspectives in a respectful environment that encourages learning, discussion, and thoughtful engagement.

Lunch will be provided for all sessions (it will be kosher-style).
