Metal Museum Group Tour Request Form
Tours, hands-on activities, workshops, and demonstrations are available Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-3:30pm. The maximum number of participants per group is 75. All tours must be scheduled a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. After you have filled out the Group Tour Request form, the Youth Programs and Tours Manager will contact you to confirm dates, times, and the total cost for your tour. Payment for tours must be made using a card, check, or cash on or before the day of the tour. A payment link can also be issued for advance payments by request.
What type of tour would you like to book?
School Tour: School tours offer public, private, and homeschool groups an engaging museum experience that supports classroom learning. We offer a variety of tour types that can introduce students to metal arts, history, science, and creative problem-solving through guided conversation and hands-on activities.
Team Building Tour: Team building tours are designed for private groups, community organizations, workplace teams, clubs, and other groups looking for a shared museum experience. We offer a variety of tour types and activity options to suit the size and needs of your group.

Guided Tour Only (Duration 1 hour, $8 per student): Guided tours include a tour of the current exhibitions and the grounds. Students will learn about the artwork on display, the sculpture garden, and the history of the Metal Museum.
Guided Tour and Hands-On Activity (Duration 1.5 hours, $12 per student): Includes guided tour and one hands-on-activity. We offer several hands-on activities for students to learn about metalworking.
Guided Tour and Studio Demonstration (Duration 1.5 hours, $12 per student): Includes guided tour and one metalworking demonstration. Our trained blacksmiths and foundry staff will demonstrate their craft and answer questions.
Guided Tour, Hands-On Activity, and Studio Demonstration (Duration 2 hours, $17 per student): All-inclusive package that includes the guided tour, one hands-on-activity, and one metalworking demonstration.

Aluminum Wire Rings: Students learn to twist wire to create colorful aluminum rings.
Aluminum Embossing: Students use stylus tools to create low relief drawings on a sheet of aluminum tooling foil.
Stamped Aluminum Keychains: Students will use hammers and metal stamps to add lettering and texture to an aluminum keychain

Studio Demonstration Choice
Blacksmithing Demonstration: Smithy staff demonstrate basic forging techniques, including tapering, bending, twisting and hand-punching a hole as they make a hook.
Casting Demonstration: Foundry staff demonstrate green sand mold-making and pour molten aluminum into the mold

Guided Tour and Stamped Aluminum Keychain Activity (Duration 1.5 hours, $17 per student): Includes guided tour and hands-on activity during which participants will use hammers and metal stamps to add lettering and texture to an aluminum keychain
Guided Tour and Copper Bracelet Activity (Duration 1.5 hours, $30 per person): Includes guided tour and hands-on activity during which participants will use hammers and metal stamps to add lettering and texture to a piece of copper that will then be formed to fir their wrist.
Guided Tour and Copper Rose Activity (Duration 2 hours, $40 per person): Includes guided tour and hands-on activity during which participants will cut and form sheet copper into a rose that is assembled with wire.
Guided Tour and Cast Aluminum Art Tile Activity (Duration 2.5 hours, $60 per person): Includes Guided Tour and hands-on activity during which participants will design the mold for their aluminum art tile, which will be cast in aluminum on site.
Forged Skewers Class (Duration 3 hours, $100 per person, limited to 10 people): Participants will learn how to forge and twist steel to make their own grilling skewers during this blacksmithing class.
Cast Light Switch (Duration 5 hours, $150 per person, limited to 8 people): Participants will design and create a mold with oil bonded green sand and cast it in aluminum during this foundry class.
