  • Position Title: Marketing Intern
    Location: Remote, (New Mexico Preferred)
    Type: Part-time | Semester-based | Paid + Eligible for Class Credit

    About the Role

    The New Mexico Beef Council (NMBC) is seeking a Marketing Intern to support social media, digital outreach, and event execution. This role is ideal for a student majoring in Agricultural Communications, Ag Education, Journalism, Marketing, and other related fields who is looking to gain hands-on experience in social media, events, food marketing, and agricultural promotion.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Working closely with the team, the intern will:
    • Assist with repurposing podcast episodes into short-form social media clips (Reels, TikTok, Shorts).
    • Help upload and schedule weekly content to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
    • Support creation of repeatable engagement posts (polls, questions, seasonal themes).
    • Create unique content of recipes or ranching information (monthly at minimum)

     

    In conjunction with the whole NMBC team, the intern will:
    • Assist with event organization and execution. 
    • Attend events and talk to the public about beef and how it is raised.

    Independent Project:
    • Create one reel per month using recipes from NMBeef.com (shot on phone, casual style) or ranching content. This will be a self-managed project from start to finish (concept, filming, editing, delivery).

    Qualifications

    • Current student in Agricultural Communications, Ag Education, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
    • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Familiarity with Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook.
    • Basic video editing skills (e.g., CapCut, Canva, Final Cut, Premier or similar tools).
    • Interest in agriculture, food, and nutrition a plus.
    • Organized, creative, and self-motivated.

     

    Details

    • Commitment: 10- 20 hours per week
    • Compensation: $15/hour (based on experience)
    • Term: Semester-based with potential for renewal
    • Academic Credit: NMBC is willing to coordinate with faculty advisors for course credit
