RFP: 1st Floor Lobby Art Activation Application
  • Mainframe Studios: Call for Artists

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS | 1st FLOOR LOBBY ART ACTIVATION
  • Image field 28
  • PROJECT OVERVIEW

Mainframe Studios is looking to commission an artist / artist team to design an installation in the first-floor lobby across from the elevators. The space for this art activation is black concrete between the two doors for Stairwell B. The installation will measure approximately 80 sq. feet with a maximum depth of 6 feet from the wall. The new installation will help set the tone of Mainframe as a fun and welcoming space for visitors and provide a sense of the creativity that lies within the building. This can be an installation, an interactive experience, or an Instagram-able backdrop. It may hang from the existing bar attached to the top of the wall or may be free-standing. However, it must be sturdy, able to withstand high traffic, and must meet ADA accessibility standards. The final design will incorporate Mainframe’s branded color palette, but may utilize additional colors. We are looking for artists with a distinct sense of style, creativity, dependability, and professionalism.

  • ELIGIBILITY

    • Artists must be current tenants of Mainframe Studios.
      • This opportunity is reserved for current Mainframe tenants because it uses part of our building maintenance budget that is funded in part through tenant rent. This ensures the project meaningfully reinvests in the artists who work in the building and contribute to our vibrant organization and its sustainability.
    • Artists should have a portfolio that demonstrates a breadth of artistic merit, experience, and professionalism.
      • Artist teams may submit. Please submit your own application and note the name of your teammate.
    • Artists should understand Mainframe’s community mission and vision and align with Mainframe’s values of respect, collaboration, accessibility, sustainability, and experimentation.
    • Artists of all levels, including those who identify as emerging, are encouraged to apply.

    PROCESS OVERVIEW

    • Mainframe will promote a Request for Proposals with Mainframe tenants.
    • Applicants will submit an application for review by Mainframe staff.
    • One artist will be selected for the project. Once the design is approved, the final piece must be completed by August 28.
    • The selected artist will receive $1,500 to design and complete the installation.
