The following questions will help us determine a current State of the MN Craft Beer Industry and which priorities are of top concern to members. Our Legislative Committee developed these based on the member feedback we've been receiving the past few years.

We are fully aware of many of the frustrations and burdens that members are currently dealing with, but in today's Craft Beer market, things are constantly changing. What was once a top priority, very well may no longer be of interest to some members. These are the issues that we have heard from members in the past but please leave suggestions as to what might help your buisness the most in the current landscape.

We've organized the questions below based past priorities, and our expected ability work effecitvely on them in the coming session, or if they need a more sustained effort.

  • Hemp-Derived THC Beverages

THC has been the primary issue that the State legislature is interested in engaging with for the past few years. Therefore, this has been the space with the most opportunity for the Guild to have positive impact on protecting and increasing brewer rights. Now, those rights are under attack on the Federal level. Thanks to relationships that we have built in Washington D.C. over the past 5 years, we stand to have an impact on the outcome of National policy. In order to do so, we must speak truthfully about the Nation's first regulated market.

We know somewhere between 30-60% of breweries are manufacturing THC beverages, an unknown are selling THC, and some members have no interest or ability to be in the THC beverage market at all.

Knowing how many businesses are manufacturing and selling these products is crucial to us understanding how many of our resources should be put towards this topic.

It's important that we hear from all businesses - including those that do not interact with THC beverages - to better understand the changing needs of the industry and how to support it.

Please note: All questions pertain to hemp-derived THC beverages only.

  • Operation Metro Surge

We know that Operation Metro Surge and the months since, have led to additional burdens for members all across the State. In order for us to advocate State and Federal assistance of any sort, we need to know how impactful it has (or has not) been and what would be the most helpful to members moving forward. We are not asking for opinions on the presence of ICE/DHS, but for the specifics of their impact.
  • Has the presence and actions of ICE/DHS during (and since) Operation Metro Surge impacted your business?
