  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 11th Annual Chicago Urban Book Expo, taking place September 25–27, 2026, at the Hilton Rosemont. Volunteers play an important role in helping our events run smoothly and creating a welcoming experience for authors, readers, and guests. Please complete this form to let us know your availability, preferred volunteer duties, and contact information.

    Completing this form does not guarantee placement. Selected volunteers will receive additional instructions, schedules, and event details before the Expo weekend.

  • Volunteer Expectations


    By submitting this form, you understand that Chicago Urban Book Expo volunteers are expected to be dependable, professional, courteous, and willing to assist wherever needed. Volunteers must arrive at their assigned check-in time, remain at their assigned station until properly relieved, follow instructions from Expo leadership, and treat all authors, attendees, vendors, hotel staff, and fellow volunteers with respect. Duties may include standing for extended periods, managing lines, directing guests, assisting with check-in, supporting authors, distributing materials, helping with setup or breakdown, and completing other event-related tasks. Volunteers should wear the provided volunteer shirt and follow any additional dress-code instructions. Personal phone use should be limited while on duty. Volunteers who fail to report for their scheduled shift or leave their assignment without approval may lose volunteer privileges and access to the event.

  • Ticket Refund


    Volunteers will receive complimentary admission to the event or events during which they are scheduled to volunteer. If you have already purchased a ticket for the day or days you are selected to volunteer, the applicable ticket cost will be refunded after your volunteer assignment has been confirmed. Refunds will only apply to the specific event or day for which you are officially scheduled to volunteer and may not include optional upgrades, processing fees, add-ons, or tickets purchased for another person. Additional refund instructions will be provided to selected volunteers.
