This fall, we gather in Detroit. From September 9–11, The People’s Practice will host a national gathering of practitioners and partners who have been advancing equitable and anti-racist approaches to community development across geographies, sectors, and lived contexts.

Across three days, we will move through Detroit and through each other’s work, gathering in neighborhoods, engaging local practitioners, sharing meals, participating in working sessions, and creating space for reflection, exchange, and collective inquiry. The convening will be organized around three thematic lanes: Narrative Change, Arts and Culture as a Vehicle for Community Development, and Power and Ownership. The gathering will explore how these areas intersect, helping us build deeper connections, sharpen shared ideas, and imagine new possibilities.

Registration Profile
- Regional Action Planning (RAP) - Participants in the regional action planning effort that took place in three (3) targeted regions: Jackson, MS, Twin Cities, MN, and Central Appalachia.
- Cleveland Freedom Dreams Coalition (CFDC) - Coalition members of the Partnership for Equitable Resilient Communities (PERC) work in Cleveland, OH.
- Funders - Any individual or organization that has the capacity to provide financial resources through grants, loans, donations, or investments including government agencies, private foundations, corporations, venture capitalists, and philanthropists.
- Practitioners - Individual practitioners representing a community development organization and/or contributors to The People’s Practice project by way of artistry, facilitation, writing, advisory or consultancy.
- Staff - Employees of ThirdSpace Action Lab and Special Gathering only.
