UUMS Presents Beyond the Walls:
An Introduction to Transformative Prison Ministry
Virtual Workshop
Tuesday, July 21 | 12:00–1:30 PM ET
Join Rev. Dr. Stephanie Bush Mann (UUMS 2026) for an engaging and thought-provoking introduction to prison ministry through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Rev. Stephanie, director of the UUMS Prison Ministry Certification Program, will guide participants in a 90-minute, interactive workshop designed to explore what prison ministry is, why it matters, and the many ways that spiritual leaders can serve individuals impacted by incarceration. Participants will earn 1.5 CEU (continued education units) in DEI while gaining insight into the realities of the correctional system, examining common assumptions and biases, and discovering how principles of compassion, inclusion, dignity, and restorative healing align with Unity and New Thought teachings. The workshop is open to ministers, licensed unity teachers, ministerial students, chaplains, and all spiritually-minded seekers interested in the Prison Ministry Certification program or simply expanding their understanding of inclusive spiritual service. The cost is $40 and link to the event will be provided after payment is received. 1.5 CEU Credits for DEI will be awarded and UUMS Students will receive 10 credits for this workshop.
