    Volunteer brigades are the heart of communities across Aotearoa. As part of International Volunteer Year 2026, the United Fire Brigades' Association (UFBA) is celebrating the crews who show up — any time, every time.

    Tell us why your local volunteer fire brigade deserves to be recognised as NZ’s Volunteer Fire Brigade of the Year and nominate them to win a national accolade and fuel/grocery vouchers to support them and their members. 

    Nominations close: midnight Sunday 23 August 2026.

    Winning brigades will be in three categories - Small, Medium, and Large Brigade of the Year. Announcement will be on Sunday 25 October.
