  • BCCG Farm-to-table Initiative, 2026

The Bells Corners Community Garden (BCCG), in collaboration with the United Way East Ontario and the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, is excited to host the second year of the Farm-to-table Initiative to support and empower women in our community.

The goal of this project is to grow fresh, nutritious vegetables that will be used to prepare healthy meals for families in need. By offering free space to grow vegetables on a local farm and providing ingredients, resources, and cooking opportunities through a neighbourhood community kitchen, the program helps women develop new skill, build food security, and strengthen community connections.

In addition, the BCCG grows food that we donate to the food bank to support local families. Women who participate in the program are eligible to receive a reference letter confirming their involvement and contribution to this community‑led initiative. Plus, this year, we have incorporated a mentor support component to give participants informal support and shared learning opportunities. Finally, at the end of the program, participants will receive a reference letter to recognize their work.

    Let's grow!
