You're a writer on Substack. Then, you publish YOUR BOOK!
Now you have to promote that book.
But the publishing world isn’t what it used to be. We all know that. In the olden days, publishers did more to promote their authors; they spent more than they spend today. They paid publicists, they covered travel expenses for book launches and readings.
Now, only the big names get that treatment.
Authors have to foot the bill to go out into the world to get their books into the hands of readers.
But who gets left out when it comes to attending an IRL book launch?
Your Substack readers. Our audience here. Chances are they don’t live in a city or a town that’s on your book tour schedule. That’s a lost opportunity.
To fill this need, Wham! Bam! Book! Slam! offering book events here in our virtual bookstore.
If you write on Substack and have a new book–or not so new–or you’re about to, this is a destination everyone can access.
In keeping with the spirit and intention of the Wham! Bam! community, you also have a feminist mindset.
We will NOT be spotlighting books that celebrate tradwives and supporting the manosphere. Nah, no way.
Something you may not know about me:
I’m a bookseller at heart. I sold books for years. There’s nothing better than putting a beloved book into a reader’s hands. Once a bookseller, always a bookseller.
You should see me switch into tidying and alphabetizing mode when I’m in any bookstore. Can’t shake it. Don't want to.
Starting in July 2026 we’re offering book events. Launches. Giveaways. Readings. Kind of. Kind of, because where adding a special twist to the old cocktail.
The twist?
Storytelling. A mini-slam!
Instead of coming to hear the featured author read an excerpt from her new book, we’re asking the author to invite 2-3 published Substack writer friends to come chat with her about her book.
Before the writers chat about the featured authors’s book, they’ll each tell a 4-minute story, based on a theme chosen by the author.
We'll wrap the event with a Q&A. Then, we'll sell your book!
