Join Rocky Mountain Equality and Dr. Sue Ellen Hirschfeld for a fun, family-friendly exploration of the prehistoric world of giant ground sloths. Through Sue’s stories, photographs, artifacts, and fascinating discoveries from decades of paleontological research, Sue will share her adventures studying these remarkable Ice Age animals, highlighting ground sloths, an uncovered cave in the Grand Canyon containing 20 feet of preserved dung, skin, hair, and bones. Along the way, we'll learn what these discoveries reveal about the lives of ground sloths, their interactions with early people across South America, the United States, and the Caribbean islands, and the mysteries surrounding their extinction 10,000 to 4,000 years ago.
Whether you're a science enthusiast, a fossil nerd, or simply looking for a fun and unique community event, all ages are welcome. Sue will be bringing her sloth-related artifacts for audience members to interact with.
