A passionate advocate for the Tsolum for many years, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge about the river’s history, ecology, restoration, and the community efforts that helped bring it back to life.

    As you explore the watershed together, Laura will share fascinating insights into the natural and cultural history of the area, the impacts of past land use, and the inspiring restoration efforts that have helped revive one of the Comox Valley’s most important rivers.

    Whether you are new to the area or have lived here for decades, this walk offers a unique opportunity to learn about one of the Comox Valley’s most inspiring environmental success stories while enjoying a beautiful outing in nature.

  • Meeting Location:

    Meet at the parking lot of Tsolum Spirit Park, located on Tsolum River Road. (map)

    Important Information:

    • Dress for the weather and bring water
    • Leashed dogs welcome
    • Please arrive promptly by 10:00 am
    • The walk will cover approximately 5–6 km and take 2–2.5 hours, including stops
    • The route follows forest and riverside trails, including sections of the One Spot Trail and HQ Townsite Park
    • Terrain is mostly flat, with one hill in the park
    • May be suitable for strollers, depending on trail conditions
