    This training course provides comprehensive instruction in everyday first aid and choking prevention and response for employees of Nobility Reigns. The course is designed to equip staff with the knowledge and practical decision-making skills necessary to safely respond to common medical situations encountered in residential care settings while remaining within organizational policy, professional scope, and regulatory expectations.

    The Everyday First Aid portion of the course addresses caregiver responsibilities and limitations, self-administration and treatment orders, proper use and storage of first aid supplies, and criteria for escalating care to medical providers or emergency services. Participants are trained to recognize and appropriately respond to cuts, scrapes, bruises, sprains, strains, nail injuries, scalp injuries, and burns. Special emphasis is placed on burn classification (superficial, partial thickness, and full thickness), correct treatment steps, infection prevention, and identifying what treatments are prohibited. Real-life scenarios are used throughout the course to reinforce judgment, observation, and documentation expectations.

    The Choking Prevention and Response portion of the course focuses on understanding why choking is a high-risk medical emergency, identifying common and less obvious choking risk factors, and implementing proactive prevention strategies during meals and daily activities. Participants are trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of choking and to correctly distinguish between effective coughing and complete airway obstruction. The course provides step-by-step instruction in approved conscious choking response techniques, including back blows and abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver), as well as guidance for special situations such as frail individuals, wheelchair users, and positioning considerations.

    This course also includes detailed instruction on emergency escalation, including the requirement to activate emergency medical services (911) immediately during life-threatening situations, followed by internal notification according to Nobility Reigns procedures. Participants are trained on post-incident medical follow-up expectations and thorough documentation requirements.

    Additionally, this training explains and reinforces Nobility Reigns’ No-CPR policy, including the rationale for the policy, associated risks of improper CPR, training and certification requirements, and the legal and regulatory considerations that support this approach. Employees are instructed

     

    on what actions are authorized and required in the event a resident becomes unresponsive, including continuous monitoring and awaiting emergency medical responders.

    Successful completion of this course indicates that the employee has demonstrated understanding of safe first aid practices, choking prevention and response, emergency escalation procedures, policy compliance, and documentation expectations as required by Nobility Reigns.
