• Safe and Warm Grassroots Communities Scheme application form - 2026 to 2027

  • Introduction

  • This is the application form for the Safe and Warm Grassroot Communities scheme. The scheme is managed by the Centre for Sustainable Energy on behalf of three Gas Distribution Networks: SGN, Northern Gas Networks and Wales and West Utilities.

    Please read through the information for applicants document before completing this application form, available on the CSE website. Two Information for Applicants webinars will take place, one on Thursday 16th July, 1-2pm, and one one on Wednesday 29th July, 1-2pm. The sessions will have the same content, and you can register for session one here and session two here.

    This form has a save and continue later feature so you don't need to complete it in one go.

  • Basic eligibility

  • As part of the application process, the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) will collect contact details for the key people from your organisation involved in submitting this application so we can get in touch about the outcome of your application. If you are successful we will use your details to support and liaise with you as your project progresses.

    Your data will be stored in accordance with GDPR regulations and we’ll keep your data for two years from the application deadline. We will not ask you to share personal details relating to any of your customers or service users.

    If you are successful, we will then keep your data for five years after you complete the project.

  • If successful, we will need you to provide details of a bank account which meets the following criteria:

    • Is in the name of the organisation applying for funding (not a personal account)
    • Requires at least two signatures from unrelated people to make a withdrawal
    • You are able to provide a statement or paying-in slip showing the account name and account details

    This is for CSE's internal checks when issuing grant payments. We will release grant payments when the conditions have been met and will not require successful organisations to raise invoices for their grant payment.

    This should be a director or trustee, with the authority to sign a grant agreement on behalf of the applicant organisation. We will also inform them if your application is successful.

    Your final project report also needs to be signed off by this person so that we have assurance that your project will be delivered as planned and that reporting is accurate.
