• Mentee Application: SCC Mentorship Professional Development Program 2026

  • The Saskatchewan Craft Council is seeking professional members to apply to our Mentorship Program! 

    This opportunity is only open to current SCC members and is free of charge. The program runs from September 1 to December 31, 2026.

    If a selected mentee is not already a member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, they will need to become one. Annual memberships have an fee of $65 to $125 depending on membership type. Learn More.

    The Saskatchewan Craft Council invites applications from makers, craftspeople, and visual artists seeking professional development through mentorship. Whether you are launching a creative business, expanding your market presence, developing wholesale opportunities, building an online store, or looking to strengthen your artistic business, this program provides access to experienced mentors who can help you achieve your goals. The SCC Mentorship Professional Development Program supports craftspeople, makers, and visual artists working together to share skills, knowledge, and experience. The mentorship direction is led by the mentee's goals. Participants are matched with established professionals who provide guidance, feedback, training, and support through a series of mentorship sessions. 

    Areas of mentorship may include: 

    • Wholesale and retail sales, in both physical shops, galleries, and online
    • Marketing and promotion for artists and makers 
    • Consignment and wholesale agreements, pricing, and merchandising 
    • Exporting and shipping products 
    • Grant writing and professional applications 
    • The use of social media and website development 

    WHO SHOULD APPLY?

    • Emerging artists and makers 
    • Mid-career artists seeking business growth 
    • Artists transitioning to professional practice
    • SCC members interested in strengthening their creative business
  • Application Requirements

    For this application you will need:

    1. Maker Bio (max 1 page)
    Description of your business or artistic practice
    • What products or artwork do you create?
    • How long have you been in business or making?
    • Where do you currently sell your work? If none, confirm that you are interested in selling your work.
    • How are you currently marketing your business?

    2. Letter of intent: What do you hope to achieve through this mentorship? What are your biggest challenges as an artist, maker, or creative entrepreneur? 

    What specific questions would you like to explore regarding: 
    • Marketing 
    • Wholesale or retail sales 
    • Online shop development 
    • Exhibitions and markets 
    • Business development
