The Northeast Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce is honored to be the recipient of a $400,000 charitable contribution from Core Athens Dougherty, LLC to establish a scholarship fund that expands access to vocational education and workforce training opportunities for residents of Athens-Clarke County.
This initiative is designed to support individuals seeking careers in the construction industry and related skilled trades by providing scholarship assistance for approved vocational training programs. Through this investment, Core Athens Dougherty, LLC and the Northeast Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce are working together to strengthen the local workforce, create pathways to sustainable employment, and support economic mobility within our community.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be a resident in the Northeast Georgia Region (see map above); and
- Demonstrate the ability and commitment to successfully complete the entire training program.
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Agree to participate in program surveys and reporting requirements
Training will be delivered through qualified third-party vocational education providers. Applicants selected for scholarship assistance may be subject to additional admission requirements, eligibility criteria, assessments, or enrollment procedures established by the participating training provider.
