  • What is OAK Choir?

  • Oak Choir is the epic community choir lead by Bristol musician Rachael Dadd (https://www.rachaeldaddmusic.com/)

    OAK is run with an ethos of inclusivity where all voices are welcome, and where joy and wellbeing are held above perfection. The songs, or "cosmic hymns" as described by one Oak member, are written by Rachael to harness our collective energy and imagination for an experience of solace, joy, connection, and hope.​​ OAK is for anyone longing for connection: with themselves, with one another, and with the natural world. More than a choir, OAK is a place of gathering where collective singing nurtures community, deepens presence, and reminds us of our shared belonging.

  • Our Values:

  • Both choirs are founded and run on the same principles which are central to the aim of building an inclusive community in OAK Choir:

    ·      All voices are welcome, even those without previous experience of singing in choirs

    ·      We welcome all ages, all genders, all identities, all cultures and all faiths

    ·      We operate a 3-tiered payment system for inclusivity

    ·      Limited number of bursary places for donation, and free spaces for refugees and carers

    ·      Children are welcome to accompany adults and play quiet games in the same room or join the singing

    ·      Fully wheelchair accessible

    ·      Teas and refreshments are offered at the start and half way break for relaxation and a chance to meet people and make new friends

  • OAK Choir is expanding!

    There are now 2 OAK Choirs:

    Wednesday Choir, 7-9pm at St Ambrose Church, Whitehall, Bristol, BS5 7AN.

    Thursday Choir, 7-9pm at St Michael's Church, Windmill Hill, BS3 4LW

     

    Wednesday Choir Term Dates:

    September 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th

    October 7th, 14th, 21st

    Thursday Choir Term Dates:

    September 10th, 17th, 24th

    October 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd

     

    Performances:

    All performances are totally optional!

    This term there will be one performance opportunity on Saturday 10th October at Circomedia singing with Suzi MacGregor for her album launch.

  • Bringing a Child to Rehearsals?

  • Policy on Children:

    We love children of all ages sharing the space with us and helping to gel our community. They are welcome to play the board games, use the drawing materials and eat the fruit provided. They are also welcome to be part of our circle, listening and singing. If they want to learn and sing each week please sign them up with the child fee, or there's an option to pay £5 as and when they join the singing. Children's attendance can also be paid for on a week by week ad-hoc basis which can be paid on the night.

    To help create an environment for teaching, learning and listening, and to foster well-being, there are certain requirements we ask for. Low noise levels and refraining from running around the space really helps everyone! Please let your children know they are so welcome and also we appreciate them adhering to these simpe rules! Thank you!

  • Membership Fees:

    We use the Green Bottle three tier payment system to promote inclusivity and equity which are core values of Oak Choir.

    Please select a tier that reflects your current financial situation. This is completely self-assessed and may fluctuate from term to term.
