About the Role
We are looking for a Canine Rehabilitation Assistant to join our clinical team. This is a hands-on, dog-centred support role and you will be primarily responsible for washing, drying and caring for our dogs after hydrotherapy. More importantly, you will be our second set of eyes post-session.

This role suits someone who loves dogs (obviously!), handles them with confidence - but with a gentle touch - and wants to be part of a professional rehabilitation team.

You don't need to be rehab-trained but we need someone who is observant, a strong communicator, calm under pressure and takes pride in doing simple things exceptionally well.

Key Responsibilities

· Post-hydrotherapy care: Wash, dry and observe/ monitor our dogs post-session while being mindful of individual skin, coat and medical needs.

· Observation and feedback: Watch for any signs of discomfort, stiffness, heat, swelling, skin changes or behaviour shifts, and report your observations promptly to the hydrotherapist or physiotherapist in charge.

· Confident dog handling: Safely and confidently manage dogs of all breeds, sizes and temperaments - including elderly, anxious or mobility-impaired dogs. Your handling must be both gentle and assured.

· Session support: Assist therapists with moving dogs between areas, preparing equipment and keeping the session flow calm and efficient during busy periods.

· Hygiene and safety: Keep the wash-down area, drying stations and equipment clean and well-stocked, following our infection control and health and safety protocols.

· Owner interaction: Occasionally speak with owners at drop-off or pick-up, gathering helpful information about their dog’s condition and passing it on to the clinical team.

What We’re Looking For

Comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments. You can read a dog’s body language and be able to adapt your approach.

Physically capable: The role can be physically demanding and requires standing, bending and safely supporting larger dogs on wet surfaces. Steady hands required. 

Highly observant and communicative: You notice small details and can describe them clearly to a therapist. You are not afraid to speak up if something feels off.

Calm and efficient: You can work at pace during busy blocks without rushing the animals or compromising safety.

A genuine love for dogs, especially those with physical challenges. Experience with elderly, post-operative or anxious dogs is a strong advantage.

A team player: You will work side-by-side with clinicians who will rely on your eyes and judgement. Mutual trust matters.

No formal animal care qualifications are required, though any experience in grooming, veterinary care assistance or animal welfare is welcome. What matters most is your temperament, observation & communication skills and your handling confidence.
