• 2026 Geothermal Rising Conference: Student Volunteer Interest Form

    Geothermal Rising provides opportunities for the geothermal student community to obtain discounted or complimentary GRC registration by volunteering at the conference. If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete the form before the deadline of August 3rd.

  • Volunteer Hours

    Students are required to volunteer 4 - 7.5 hours to receive a discounted conference registration ($100). Students volunteering 8+ hours receive a complimentary conference registration. Students must register for the conference in advance at the prevailing student registration rate ($195 early bird and $225). Once volunteer hours have confirmed, the appropriate refund will be processed AFTER the conference.

  • Volunteer Opportunities

  • Below is a list of example volunteer opportunities for 2026. A sign-up form will be sent out to interested students in August and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Students must be registered for the conference before volunteer slots are selected and confirmed.


    Pre-conference support

    Formatting transactions- Support the GR team and get your hours done before the conference by helping format the GRC submitted papers for correct fonts, alignment and citations.  

    Stuff bags-Help stuff the GRC swag bags on Saturday, September 19th. 

    During Conference support

    Attendee assistance-Volunteers will help GRC attendees navigate the rooms they are looking for and help guests during the plenary sessions. 

    Discovery Day-Volunteers will help the Workforce Success Committee with onsite operations. Activities may include: welcoming participants to the Childrens Museum, and helping set up activites.

    Field Trips-Volunteers will check in registered field trip partipants and accompany them on the field trip, ensure all participants have completed waivers (if applicable), and make sure all participants are on the transportation back to the hotel/conference. 

    Golf Tournament-Volunteers will help with registration/check-in in the morning, assisting with golf tournament operations (ex: monitoring prize holes), and ensuring everyone gets back to the hotel.

    Registration-Volunteers will help check in registered GRC attendees - providing them with their name badge, encouraging them to download the mobile app and answering generic registration/conference related questions. (NOTE: All onsite registrations will be managed by GR Staff)

    Student Booth-The student committee booth will have a variety of resources for participants, including information on membership and activiites hosted by the Student committee as well as selling and distributing select GRC merchandise.
