  • Ministry Village Statement of Faith

  • 1. The Word of God

We believe the Holy Bible is the divinely inspired word of God, serving as the ultimate, inerrant authority for salvation and Christian living. It is a testimony to Christ, who is the focus of divine revelation.

    2. The Triune God

We believe in the one true, living God, who reveals Himself to us as a Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of the universe, perfect in holiness and infinite in wisdom.

    3. Salvation by Grace

We believe that salvation is the free gift of God, provided by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the redemption of sins and was raised from the dead. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Him as Lord.

    4. The Church & Community

We believe the church is a local body of baptized believers united in faith and fellowship, observing the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper, and exercising the spiritual gifts given to them by the Holy Spirit.

    5. Christian Stewardship & Service

We believe that all Christians are under obligation to make the will of Christ supreme in their own lives and in human society. We are called to be faithful stewards of our time, talents, and material possessions, working to oppose greed, racism, and injustice, and to promote the general good of mankind.

    6. The Foundational Institution of Family

We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a lifelong covenant commitment that reflects the relationship between Christ and His church.

I agree to the the above Statement of Faith:

  • 1. General Expectations

We ask that our volunteers support and reflect the mission and values of Ministry Village: "Expressing the love of Christ to all people through acts of service."

    • All volunteers must complete an application and background check and adhere to our statement of faith.
    • Volunteers should model Christ-like behavior, demonstrating integrity, patience, and encouragement.
    • Confidentiality is crucial—please do not share participant information outside of Charis House.
    • If you cannot attend your class/meeting/appointment, please let the director know asap.

    2. Code of Conduct

    • Dress modestly and appropriately for the activity.
    • No personal relationships past volunteer/participant relationship.
    • Maintain appropriate physical boundaries.
    • Do not give money or personal gifts to participants outside of the Encourager/Mentor program guidelines.

    3. Speaking to Participants

The words spoken to and about the women at Charis House have a powerful impact on their recovery. Volunteers should be mindful of their speech to ensure it aligns with biblical principles of love, encouragement, and grace.

    Use Encouraging and Uplifting Language

    • Speak words of life, hope, and healing, focusing on their potential and growth.
    • Use affirming words that reinforce their identity in Christ rather than their past mistakes.
    • Listen with compassion and patience, offering understanding rather than judgment.
    Avoid Harmful or Negative Speech

    • It is helpful to not bring up a participant’s past unless they initiate the conversation and it is relevant to their healing.
    • Please refrain from engaging in gossip or discussing other participants.
    Speak with Wisdom & Discernment

    • If a participant shares a struggle, respond with prayer, scripture, and encouragement, rather than criticism or quick fixes.
    • Keep conversations Christ-centered and recovery-focused.

    4. Supervising Participants in Public Places

When volunteers take participants into public settings (appointments, events, outings), maintaining supervision and accountability is crucial.

    • Always stay within eyesight of participants—never allow them to separate from the group or wander alone.
    • Know where they are at all times—if a participant needs to use the restroom or step away, another approved individual should accompany them.
    • Be alert for signs of distress, temptation, or unsafe interactions and redirect as needed.
    • Ensure they follow program rules (e.g., no unapproved conversations with outsiders, no handling money, no stopping at unapproved locations or personal stops).
    • Report any concerns or incidents immediately to the Charis House director.

    5. Teaching & Mentoring Guidelines

Teachers and mentors play a vital role in the spiritual growth and recovery of Charis House participants.

    Curriculum & Lesson Planning

    • Only pre-approved curriculum and materials may be used. Volunteers must check with the Director before introducing new lessons, books, or topics.
    • If not using a specific book, all general lesson plans should be submitted for review in advance, ensuring alignment with Charis House’s mission and recovery principles. We want to be intentional in what we are providing for classes/lessons.
    • Teaching should be biblically based, practical, and supportive of recovery goals.
    • Teachers should be prepared and arrive at least 10 minutes early to set up.
    Teaching Conduct

    • Keep content engaging and interactive, considering participants' backgrounds.
    • Maintain a spirit of grace and encouragement.
    • Use uplifting and Christ-centered language.
    • Be flexible and sensitive to participants' emotional and spiritual needs. Certain topics can be triggers for the ladies.
    Classroom Expectations

    • Maintain a structured but welcoming environment
    • Address questions and concerns with wisdom and discernment—refer complex or sensitive issues to staff.
    • Ensure the class ends on time and that all materials are put away. Have ladies clean up if necessary.

    6. Safety & Security

    • Always sign in and out on clipboard.
    • Follow staff instructions in case of emergencies.
    • Never be alone with a participant in a private setting.
    • Report any concerns about a participant’s safety or well-being to staff immediately.
    • Staff members will be at the Charis House during your class time. If they leave to run an errand, they will contact you to let you know.

    7. Volunteer Driver Guidelines

We ask that volunteers that transport participants follow these safety and conduct policies:

    Driving Conduct

    • Never leave the participant unattended at the destination—remain with them unless otherwise directed.
    • Do not make unapproved stops (no drive-thrus, personal errands, or side trips).
    Participant Safety

    • Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts at all times.
    • If an issue arises during transport, contact the director immediately.
    • Follow pickup and drop-off procedures as instructed by staff.

    8. Communication & Support

    • If you cannot make a scheduled commitment, notify the director as soon as possible. (850-449-2167)
    • Confirm the appointment details (time, location, expected duration) and make sure they have appropriate paperwork prior.
    • Seek guidance from staff if you encounter challenging situations.

    9. Encouragement & Discipleship

    • Encourage participants in their spiritual growth and recovery journey.
    • Share scripture, testimonies, and wisdom that align with their healing process.
    • Pray for and with participants when appropriate.

*By following these guidelines, volunteers play a crucial role in supporting the women at Charis House in their recovery and spiritual growth. We are so incredibly thankful for you and the time that you are investing in our ladies! What a wonderful impact that will last a lifetime!
