  • Player & Parent Code of Conduct

  • This document outlines the expectations and standards for players, parents, and coaches participating in OD Volleyball Club. Our goal is to create a positive, respectful, and development-focused environment where athletes can grow both on and off the court.
  • 1. Respect & Sportsmanship

  • All participants—including players, coaches, and parents—must treat one another with respect and dignity. This includes teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators. Unsportsmanlike behavior such as arguing with referees, disrespectful conduct, or the use of offensive language is strictly prohibited.
  • 2. Positive Behavior

  • Players are expected to encourage teammates, handle wins and losses gracefully, and communicate respectfully. Bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action, including suspension from practices or tournaments at the discretion of the club. Participants are expected to take responsibility for their actions, acknowledge mistakes, and strive for improvement. This includes following all club rules and maintaining a respectful and positive presence both in person and online.
  • 4. Prohibited Conduct

  • The use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products by athletes is strictly prohibited at any club event, practice, tournament, or team activity. Players are not permitted to intentionally or accidentally kick volleyballs toward other players' bodies or faces. Unsafe behavior that may cause harm will not be tolerated.
  • 5. Commitment to Development

  • OD Volleyball Club is committed to the long-term development of every athlete both physically and emotionally. Coaches will work to support each player's growth and help them understand their role within the team.
  • 6. Position Assignment

  • Players will be assigned positions based on what the coaches determine is best for the development of the player and the success of the team.
  • 7. Punctuality & Preparedness

  • Players are expected to arrive on time and prepared for all practices, games, and team activities. Late arrivals may result in conditioning or other consequences determined by the coach. Players should arrive dressed appropriately and ready to begin practice at the scheduled start time. Headphones and jewelry are not permitted during practice or games. Players must wear the club uniform or team t-shirt when required.
  • 8. Work Ethic & Attendance

  • Players are expected to work hard and give their best effort at every practice and game. Attendance is important for team development and commitment. Missing practices or games without a valid reason shows a lack of commitment to the team. Excused absences include illness, family emergencies, or other circumstances approved by the coach in advance.
  • 9. Academic Responsibility

  • Academic success is a priority. Players are student-athletes, with 'student' coming first. Athletes are expected to maintain good academic standing and manage their school responsibilities.
  • 10. Cell Phone Policy

  • Cell phones are not permitted during practice. During tournaments or matches involving other teams, players are encouraged to support and cheer for teammates rather than using phones.
  • 11. Team Commitment

  • Teams are formed for regional and national competitions based on age group and skill level. Once a player commits to a team for the season, they are expected to remain with that team for the duration of the season and not transfer to another club.
  • 12. Practice Energy & Focus

  • Players should hustle during drills and team activities and listen attentively during team discussions. Water breaks are intended for quick recovery and hydration. For longer practices, a short snack break (approximately 8-10 minutes) may take place about one hour into practice. Players are encouraged to bring healthy snacks such as fruit, protein bars, or nuts.
  • 13. Parent Expectations

  • Parents play an important role in supporting a positive team environment. Parents are asked not to interfere with practices or coaching instructions. Please do not enter the court wearing outdoor shoes. If you have questions or concerns, please speak with a coach after practice. Parents are encouraged to support and motivate their children and ensure they arrive at practice with proper equipment including gym shoes, knee pads, elbow pads, and club uniforms.
  • 14. Social Media Policy

  • Players are expected to represent the club positively on social media. Posts that promote bullying, harassment, discrimination, or disrespect toward teammates, opponents, officials, or the club may result in disciplinary action.
  • 15. Safety & Injury Reporting

  • Players must inform coaches of any pre-existing injuries, medical conditions, or illnesses prior to participating in practices, games, or team activities. If a player becomes injured during practice or competition, they must notify a coach immediately. While OD Volleyball Club takes reasonable precautions to provide a safe training environment, participation in sports carries inherent risks. The club is not responsible for injuries that occur during practices, games, or team activities. Athlete safety is a top priority. Injured players may be required to rest or obtain medical clearance before returning to play.
