To be eligible for reimbursement, your course must be EMSA-approved, designed for child care providers, and at least 8 hours in length. Funding is limited, so scholarships will be awarded until available funds are exhausted.

  • Health and Safety Training Reimbursement Program 2026-2027

  • Funded by a grant from the California Department of Social Services
  • What is this program?

  • The Resource Connection Resource and Referral Services is offering reimbursement funds to child care providers who have completed the health and safety training requirements outlined in AB243.
  • How much can I get reimbursed?

  • Eligible providers may receive up to $150 towards the cost of an 8-hour EMSA-approved preventative health practices class. Reimbursement will not exceed the actual costs incurred.
  • Who is eligible?

  • Providers in Amador or Calaveras Counties, including:
    • Licensed Center-Based Staff
    • Licensed Family Child Care Providers
    • License-Exempt / TrustLine Providers
    • In-Home Child Care Providers
  • Is there a deadline?

  • Yes. Trainings must be completed between July 1, 2026, and June 15, 2027. All applications must be in our office by June 15, 2027.

  • How are reimbursements prioritized?

  • Funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis with the following priority order.
    1. Small Family Child Care Licensees (2 per facility)
    2. Large Family Child Care Licensee & Assistant (2 per facility)
    3. Private Child Care Center Director & Lead Teacher (2 per facility)
    4. TrustLine and Exempt Providers
  • After priorities are processed, remaining funds go to additional applicants.

    Personnel Course Components Required
    All Licensees and co-licensees Infant, Child Adult CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Preventive Health and Safety
    Substitute (All licensees absent) Licensee absent: Must ensure at least one staff member with current training in pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR is on site at all times while children are present.

  • Not all CPR or First Aid courses will meet the requirements for licensed child care facilities, call The Resource Connection, Resource and Referral office for the names and phone numbers of local trainers in the area, or go to the EMS Authority website at EMSA - Child Care
