The West Coast Ocean Tribal Caucus Summit will be held September 14th-16th at the Na’-lee Mee-ne’-dvn Lucky 7 Casino, Restaurant, Hotel and Event Center in Smith River California.

The Tribal Summit will bring together Tribal Nations from Washington, Oregon, and California as well as First Nation and/or Alaska Speakers to connect about ocean issues that are important to them. Attendance at this meeting is limited to Tribal Leaders, staff and experts. This event will provide a unique opportunity for Tribes using, stewarding and connected to the California Current to share, listen, and build strategies to sustain their culture, economies and in the face of changes to ocean conditions as well as ongoing and new uses (energy, fishing, marine carbon dioxide removal, seabed mining, etc). This event will support ongoing Tribal Caucus conversations around science, partnership, management and sovereignty for intergovernmental meetings, WCOA gatherings and projects.
There are some events and activiites flanking the Tribal Summit- Dee-ni Day (Satruday Sept 12th) and potentially, an optional 638 training and session discusssing enhanced land Tribal stewardship authorities and capabilities (Sept 16th). Please consider if you want to participate and share your interest early!
