  • The Tacoma Branch NAACP is pleased to present the 2026 Scholarship Application.

    The Tacoma Branch of the NAACP works to ensure social, political, educational, and
    economic equality for all people and to eliminate (eradicate) racial discrimination in
    Tacoma and Pierce County.

    Purpose: To acknowledge and celebrate the excellent achievement in academics of high school students of color by providing a one-time scholarship to two (2) eligible graduating high school students who will attend a college or university.

    Award: Two (2) scholarships will be awarded to two (2) students selected. The award and scholarship will be presented to the selected recipient at our Annual Freedom Fund Banquet. The Tacoma Branch NAACP awards scholarships based on a comprehensive process. Areas that are reviewed by the committee include but are not limited to the following: NAACP membership, academic accomplishments, community service, and references. The organization pays scholarship funds directly to the recipient. The NAACP Scholarship Award is $1000.00 to each recipient.

    Submission: Completed applications and other documentation should submitted online. 

    All instructions relating to this application must be followed without exception or the application will not be considered.  Completed applications must be received by the date noted or they will be voided and not considered.

    All decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final and not subject to reconsideration. Please follow the directions and provide all information as required.

  • Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

    Please read the following information and ensure you meet all of the eligibility criteria before completing this application.
  •  Criteria:

    • Applicant must be a NAACP Member
      • JOIN TODAY!! if not a current member select Unit 1774-B Tacoma Youth Council  CLICK HERE TO JOIN YOUTH COUNCIL
    • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and pursing a higher education (college, university or trade school) in the Fall of 2026
    • Applicant must complete and submit application by July 24, 2026.

     

    APPLICATION PROCESS:

    Scholarship Applicants must provide the following:

    • Completed application online. 
    • Letter of acceptance from accredited college or university

    Timeline

    • Completed applications must be received by the deadline of July 24, 2026.
    • Applicants are notified if selected by July 31, 2026
    • Awards will be presented at our Freedom Fund Banquet scheduled August 2026.

     

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    * All applicants and recipients are expected to attend the Freedom Fund Banquet on Thursday, 27 August 2026.  More information will be available.
