This honor is awarded to an individual of a WBEC-East Council Member organization in good standing. The Advocate of the Year Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates exceptional commitment to advancing opportunities for all entrepreneurs in the WBEC-East Region. This advocate actively champions supplier inclusion by creating pathways, removing barriers, and fostering meaningful connections between corporations and qualified suppliers.
Ideal candidates consistently:
- Mentor and guide entrepreneurs in navigating corporate procurement processes
- Promote inclusion by advocating for equitable access to sourcing opportunities
- Influence internal stakeholders to adopt and sustain efforts for an inclusive supply base
- Facilitate introductions, partnerships, and business growth opportunities
- Demonstrate measurable impact through increased engagement, spend, or development of businesses
Eligibility Criteria:

The Nominee for Advocate of the Year Award must be employed by a WBEC-East Council Partner in good standing with membership dues paid up to date.

The Nominating Individual must be from a WBE organization certified by WBEC-East.

The Award Celebration will be held in concert with WBEC-East’s annual Desserts & More Fundraiser on Thursday, October 22nd, 5:30 PM in Center City, Philadelphia. While not a requirement to be present during the Award Ceremony it will be appreciated for both the Nominee and Nominating Individual to plan to participate.
