The Union-North America Region is seeking nominations for the leadership position of President-elect.
The mission of NAR is to harness the significant capacity of the region to promote better lung health. To fulfill this mission, all members, countries, groups, and organizations are invited to be actively involved. Historically, the presidency tract for NAR has alternated between Canada and the USA. However, as the English, French, or Dutch speaking countries of the Caribbean and the Americas are also part of NAR, nominations from those countries are equally encouraged and welcomed.
Award Eligibility:
- To maintain a balance of representation within the NAR Executive Committee, candidates from all NAR countries as above will be accepted this round except:
- Candidates from the USA will not be accepted (but are eligible the next cycle)
- The successful candidate must be willing to serve a total of 6 years on the NAR executive Committee: 2 years as President-Elect, followed by 2 years as President, then 2 years as Immediate Past-President.
Requirements for nomination include the following:
- The candidate must be nominated by another individual, with both candidate and nominator current members in good standing of the Union-NAR.
- The nominator must indicate that the candidate has agreed to the nomination.
The nomination should include a short-written letter of justification for nomination and reflect the candidate's qualifications, including:
- Skills and experience in leadership, communication, advocacy, and teamwork
- Relationships that exemplify respect and professionalism with fellow workers and those we serve
- Knowledge and expertise in lung disease
- Energy and dedication
The nominee's contribution to the Union-NAR will be considered as part of the nomination process.
The Process and Announcement:
Nominations for NAR President-Elect will be solicited 4-6 months before the NAR Annual Conference. Nominations will be reviewed by the NAR Nominating Committee with recommendations made to the NAR Executive Committee for finalization.
A nomination submission must include the following documents:
- Completed nomination form
- Letter of nomination addressing the nominee's merits and contributions
- Curriculum vitae of the nominee
An election by the NAR membership will be held via electronic ballot at least 1 month before the NAR Annual Conference
- The successful candidate will be notified via email and announced during the Annual General Meeting of members at the 2027 NAR Annual Conference, February 24-27 in Vancouver, Canada.
