• 2027 NAR President Elect Nominations

Deadline for submission: October 1, 2026
  • We are seeking nominations for President-elect of the Union-North America Region (NAR).

The mission of NAR is to harness the significant capacity of the region to promote better lung health. In order to fulfill this mission, we need all our members, countries, groups, and organizations to be actively involved. The practice of NAR has been to alternate presidents between Canada and the USA. However, the English and French speaking countries of the Caribbean and Latin America* are also part of NAR, so nominations from those countries should also be proposed and will be welcomed.

In this call, we will accept nominations from Canada and the English, and French speaking countries of the Caribbean and Latin America, but not USA. It is important that the executive committee, on which the President-elect sits, reflects the broad experience, skills, wisdom, and capacity of our membership.

The President-elect will automatically become President of The Union-NAR after serving a term of 2 years under the mentorship of the President. The President-elect will also assist the Past-President in co-chairing the Nominating Committee.

Requirements for nomination include the following:

    • The candidate must be nominated by another individual. Both the candidate and the nominator must be current members in good standing of NAR (Dues must be paid up at the time of nomination). The nomination form must include a short-written justification for the nomination.
    • The nominating individual must indicate that the candidate has agreed to the nomination.
    • The candidate must be willing to serve on the NAR Executive Committee for a total of 6 years (2 years as President-elect + 2 years as President + 2 years as Past President), and commit the time required to serve in these leadership roles.
    • The nomination must be accompanied by the candidate's Curriculum Vitae and contact information.

    Desired Qualities:

    • Skills and experience in leadership, communication, advocacy, teamwork
    • Relationships with respect and professionalism with fellow workers and those we serve
    • Knowledge and expertise in lung disease
    • Energy and dedication

We will be accepting nominations until October 1, 2026. Nominations are first reviewed by the Nominating Committee, which then recommends a list of suitable candidates to the Executive Committee. An election will be held by electronic ballot at least 1 month before the NAR conference in February 2027.
