South Salt Lake Arts is excited to announce a brand-new opportunity for our local artists! This year, we are looking for 8 talented artists to bring their easels and capture the energy of Craftober Fest by painting en plein air (live and inspired by your surroundings).
Join us on Saturday, October 3 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM to paint the sights, people, and energetic spirit of our South Salt Lake community right as it happens. If you love painting outdoors and want to share your creative process with the crowd, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
The Details
Application Window: July 27 – August 17, 2026
Craftober Fest Details : Selected artists will paint en plein air (live and of their surroundings) at Craftober Fest on October 3 from 12 - 5pm.
Compensation: Each selected artist will receive a $150 stipend to cover their own supplies and framing for the final exhibition.
Craftober Fest Silent Auction: Completed works will be featured and sold in a special silent auction on October 15 at Level Crossing Brewery. You must be 21 or older to attend. More details to follow.
Requirements
- Artists are asked to be there from 12-5pm
- Artists are responsible for bringing their own painting materials including their easels. Don't forget you comfort items, like a chair and possibly an umbrella.
We require a minimum canvas size of 11x17 Pro-Tip: Looking to save on supplies? Run to the local thrift store, grab an old canvas, and paint right over it!
- We are hoping for good weather, however, we ask all artists to be prepared for whatever October weather may bring!
- Artists are responsible to bring their own tupperware to dispose of any solvents or dirty water (No rinsing brushes or pouring solvents into our stormwater drains)
