I will be reliable and punctual. I will arrive 15–20 minutes before the athletes to set up equipment and ensure we start on time. I will never leave an athlete unattended after a practice or game.
I will prioritize safety first. I will actively protect the physical and emotional well-being of every player. This means inspecting the fields or courts before use, managing proper hydration, and strictly adhering to all youth protection and concussion protocols.
I will focus on equal development over winning. I will dedicate my time to developing the skills, confidence, and character of every player on the roster, rather than prioritizing a championship at the expense of bench players.
I will regulate my emotions and lead by example. I will be the calmest person on the field. I will model good sportsmanship at all times and will never yell at, demean, or disrespect officials, opposing players, or parents.
I will communicate clearly and proactively. I will keep parents and guardians consistently informed about schedules, weather cancellations, and team expectations so there are no surprises.
Coaches are expected to maintain high standards of integrity and leadership even when off duty, as personal behavior directly impacts the trust and reputation of the Foss Park District Programs. Off-field misconduct can result in immediate suspension, termination, or loss of coaching eligibility. Similarly, sharing harmful content or engaging in divisive, inappropriate communication—whether publicly or online—violates professional conduct codes and undermines organizational values and goals. The Foss Park District strictly enforces these standards to ensure that coaches remain safe, positive role models for their athletes at all times. Failure to uphold these expectations jeopardizes both current eligibility and future authorization to coach across the Foss Park District programs.
I understand that my primary goal as a volunteer coach is to foster a love for the game, build character, and teach teamwork. I agree to lead by example, respect the officials, protect the safety of my players, and remember that the game is for the athletes, not the adults
