Photography Guide

Ensure you have the below information ready before starting the form for a smooth and pain-free application process

For the application you will need:

o 6 photos of your work (essential), please ensure all photos are sequenced by your name e.g. ‘DavidWilliamSampson01’, ‘DavidWilliamSampson02’, as stated on the application!
All photos in a square format, 300 DPI and between 1mb-2mb, if they are too big your application may not be sent!

o   A photo of your stand in situ to help where to place you in the musuem

o   A 20-40 word statement about your work for social media in third person

o   A 100 word statement for your website entry in third person

o   A ‘Potter’s’ photo of you, required if you are applying for ‘talks’ or ‘workshops’ at TOASTED

o   If you would like to offer a Potter’s Talk, Demo or Workshop’ for a discount do read the guidlines and explain your offer - these will be selected on the information provided, they will also be used as a social media handle! e.g. 'David William Sampson will be talking about the development of his practise and how his children are made, come and learn about the birds and the bees'!

e.g. Northern Potters, Craft Potters, Peak Artisans etc.
SECTION 3: Photographs

Do ensure photos have your name on them - renaming photos is a long job if they are not labelled. Please ensure photos are clear, focused and show yours ceramics at their best - this is often a reason why applications can be rejected - there is a support document below if this is of interest. These are only suggestions and a guide that may develop photos for early career potters wanting to improve their photography skills.

Upload 6 images of you your work, please ensure they are labelled with your name e.g. DavidWilliamSampson1, DavidWilliamSampson2, DavidWilliamSampson3, etc.

With TOASTED's increase of interest Derby is an event which is selected and aware pricing is very important to not undersell, it's not a show for a 'seconds box' but a little knowledge of your pricing is really helpful! e.g. DavidWilliamSampson1: £35e DavidWilliamSampson2: £95e

All tables are 6ft x 2.5ft and will be provided and cost £190 as standard for the weekend, however, below there are options for discounts - the most intriguing offers will be selected*, you are likely only to be offered one of the opportunities, but the £20 discount for the tombola is open to all. So please read the below information for any queries about Workshops, Demos or Talks - this is the same as above.
I understand I must set up on Friday, each year we have potters saying they didn't know, so now it's officially and extra question on the form.

To reduce your stand by £20, would you like to donate a piece of your work to support the tombola? This is available for everyone.
Workshop: For a £35 discount, if selected for a workshop, write in third person what you would make with the participants. It will be used for social media too!
"David William Sampson will be modelling a figure with you using a range of pinch pots and ceramic techniques". Alternatively leave blank if you do not wish to apply for a workshop
Demonstration: For a £40 discount, if selected for a 40 minute demonstration to the public, write in third person what you would make with the participants. It will be used for social media too!
"David William Sampson will be doing a short demo based on the sculptural techniques of how his work is created. Alternatively leave blank if you do not wish to apply for a demonstration
Talk: For a £50 discount, if selected for a 30 minute talk to the public, please describe what you would like to present on (yourself and journey is enough!) Write in third person what you would make with the participants. It will be used for social media too!
David William Sampson will be talking about his ceramic journey from 2009 looking at the highs and lows of his career with a little musical interlude. Please leave blank if you do not wish to apply for a talk
Would you like access to power sockets? All electrical items must be PAT tested and in date. Requests can be taken but not guaranteed
