    Overview
    Reporting to the Program Manager, Partnerships, this role is an integral part of the team of our mission-driven, nonprofit arts and culture organization. The Program Coordinator will provide support to maintain and develop LA Commons’ partnerships programs, nurture relationships with partners and community members , and contribute positively to the work environment. This role will be responsible for program activities of LA Commons’ placekeeping partnerships—Cultural Treasures of South LA, Historic South LA Black Cultural District, Keeping Place For Culture, and relevant programs.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support the Program Manager, Partnerships in planning, development, and execution of programmatic activities essential to LA Commons’ placekeeping initiatives.
    • Attend all required organization-wide and departmental meetings and scheduled check-ins.
    • In collaboration with the Program Manager, Partnerships serve as a liaison between LA Commons and initiative partners, ensuring timely, professional, and accurate communication.
    • Under the direction of the Program Manager, Partnerships support the creation and distribution of departmental messaging to community members, partners, and other placekeeping stakeholders through newsletters, social media, and other outreach channels.
    • Collaborate with Program Manager, Partnerships on graphic design development and implementation for placekeeping programming.
    • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of events, including logistics, vendor management, and scheduling.
    • Support in the writing and compilation of grant proposals, fundraising pitches, and other partnerships development opportunities.
    • Maintain records, databases, and documentation related to placekeeping programs and activities.
    • Facilitate meetings, workshops, or public events to support community participation and dialogue.
    • Prepare reports, presentations, and communications for internal teams, partners, and funders.
    • Provide guidance, mentorship, or support to team members, volunteers, or interns as needed.

     

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in urban planning, urban studies, community development, public policy/administration, sociology, or a related field.
    • 1-3 years work experience in an arts and culture non-profit, especially as it relates to community engagement, program management, and event coordination.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and to effectively communicate when deadline extensions are needed.
    • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail while managing a fast-paced work environment.
    • Experience working with diverse stakeholders across sectors—non-profit, private, and government.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player.
    • Commitment to the mission and values of LA Commons.
    • Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends.

     

    Preferred, but not required

    • Proficiency with design softwares—Adobe Suite, Canva, etc.—and social media platforms—Instagram, etc.
