• Rally Obedience Class (Denver)

Prerequisite: completion of an obedience or behavior program with Pavlov, OR I am a previous student of Dakota's.
  • Graduates, are you looking for a recreational team activity with your dog?  If so, join us for Rally Obedience class! Rally blends elements of traditional obedience with the flow of agility. You and your dog will navigate a unique course of 10–20 numbered stations together, side-by-side, following signs that instruct you on specific exercises.

Unlike formal obedience trials, Rally is handler-friendly: you can talk to, encourage, and praise your dog throughout the course, making it approachable for pet dogs and handlers. It's a great next step after Pavlov's obedience 1 or 2, ideal for building focus, teamwork, and a bit of flashiness.

    What You'll Learn
In this class, we cover foundational to intermediate Rally skills tailored to Pavlov's balanced training approach. Potential exercises and concepts include (depending on class level and group progress):

Finish: Call your dog from a distance while they move into heel position.

Front — Calling your dog to front in a symmetrical fashion with their chin pivoted up towards you

Heeling and pace changes — Maintaining heel position while varying speed (normal, fast, slow) and navigating turns.

    Halt exercises — Halt-Sit, Halt-Down, Halt-Stand, and variations like walk-arounds.

    Turns and pivots — 180°, 270° and 360° turns.

Stationary and moving exercises — Sits, downs, stands, side steps, serpentines

Course navigation — Reading signs, sequencing exercises smoothly, and building overall teamwork and focus.

On-leash and off-leash work (as appropriate for level) — Starting on-leash for beginners and progressing to greater independence.

Proofing behaviors in distracting environments, and strategies for successful course performance. We'll practice with actual course setups so you and your dog gain confidence for fun matches, AKC Rally trials, or simply more polite, responsive behavior on daily walks and outings.

    Who It's For
    Graduates of Pavlov's obedience 1 or 2
Handlers who want a sporty, enjoyable way to train that feels like a team activity rather than a test.
Handlers looking to enhance their dog's manners while having fun.

Dogs work one at a time and are crated when it is not their turn, to avoid disrupting the environment for the dog-handler team. If you have questions, reach out to Dakota at dakota@pavlovdogtraining.com.

By signing hereunder, I certify that I have been informed and understand that there is always some unavoidable risk of injury involved when working with animals, especially animals with behavioral issues. I acknowledge that dogs can be inherently difficult to control and that not all dogs will be under control at all times resulting in the possibility of injury to myself, my dog, my family members, or third parties. I hereby accept and assume, without reservation, all risks associated with my participation in the classes, including, but not limited to: the risks of any and all injuries to myself, my dog and any of my family members or third parties who may attend; the risks that my dog may cause injury to other persons and/or dogs while training.

As lawful consideration for participating in the classes, I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors and assigns hereby waive, release, discharge and agree not to sue and to indemnify, defend and hold harmless (PDT) and their members, managers, agents, and employees from any and all injuries, losses, claims and damages to any person or persons of any nature whatsoever, including claims arising from the Released Party’s own negligence, and all costs associated therewith, including attorney’s fees, court costs and consultant fees, arising from my participation in the Classes.

    Terms and Conditions

PDT cannot make any guarantee regarding the outcome of any training / counseling program.

    Termination of Training

A percentage of dogs do not thrive in group classes. This may be due to genetic dispositions, personality types, biological challenges, etcetera. If your trainer feels the dog is not benefiting from the group class environment, that will be communicated. In that situation PDT will discuss alternative options for the dog, and potentially refer to another program or dog trainer with resources that may better suit the dog’s needs. If that is the case, PDT will issue a refund for remaining classes.

The client or PDT may terminate training at any time, for any reason. If the client terminates training prematurely, s/he may do so. Forfeited classes will not be refunded. If PDT terminates training prematurely, PDT may refund unused remaining sessions, should PDT deem it fair and equitable.

This contract applies to any future training services purchased by the client from Pavlov Dog Training.
