Experience the next generation of storytellers at this Invitational Youth Poetry Slam, featuring talented poets ages 13–19 from across the region. Hosted by New Haven Poet Laureate Yex, the evening will showcase powerful spoken word performances, creative expression, and authentic youth voices competing for the title of Youth Slam Champion.
The winning poet will earn a featured performance opportunity on the Black Wall Street Festival main stage on August 15, along with a special recognition ceremony celebrating their achievement.
Doors open at 3:00 PM, followed by a fireside chat at 4:00 PM and the slam competition from 5:00–8:00 PM. Guests can also enjoy featured performances from Yex and fellow poets Midnight and Jason, with refreshments provided throughout the evening.
