The Art of Breastfeeding (AOB) Exhibition is a community art exhibition celebrating the beauty, complexity, and everyday realities of breastfeeding. Through visual art and creative expression, the exhibition seeks to foster understanding, normalize breastfeeding, and inspire conversations that support families wherever their feeding journeys take place.

Now in its 6th year, BreastfeedMIAMI invites artists to explore the theme:

Empowering breastfeeding parents at home and at work.

Breastfeeding is possible everywhere with the help and support of everyone.

Artists are encouraged to interpret this theme broadly through artwork that reflects nurturing relationships, family and community support, healthcare and lactation professionals, pumping and returning to work, cultural traditions, public breastfeeding, and the many ways communities help families thrive.

This exhibition brings together artists working across a wide range of creative disciplines, including painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, mixed media, digital art, poetry, music, and more—to celebrate, educate, and inspire families through the power of storytelling.

More than an art exhibition, AOB celebrates the families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, workplaces, and communities that help make breastfeeding possible.

CRITERIA & SELECTION:

Artists may submit original, display-ready work (eg: framed & ready to hang) in any visual or creative medium, including painting, photography, digital art, AI-assisted art, mixed media, sculpture, poetry, music, and more.

Artwork should reflect breastfeeding, pumping, family support, returning to work, lactation support, or related themes.

Selections are based on artistic quality, originality, relevance to the theme, available space, and overall exhibition balance.

AWARDS:

Award recipients are determined by public vote and announced during the exhibition and brunch:

• 1st Place: 1st place ribbon, BreastfeedMIAMI artwork feature, $300 prize
• 2nd Place: 2nd place ribbon, BreastfeedMIAMI artwork mention, $200 prize
• 3rd Place: 3rd place ribbon, BreastfeedMIAMI artwork mention, $100 prize

Please note: BreastfeedMIAMI board members, affiliates, interns, contractors, and their immediate family members are not eligible for awards or cash prizes.

BreastfeedMIAMI, Inc. is a nonprofit coalition to educate, support and promote breastfeeding. This collaborative of community partners prioritizes empowering mothers, fathers, partners, and families to breastfeed children as the gold standard for infant feeding and nutrition throughout Miami-Dade County.

Art of Breastfeeding is our visual call to normalize breastfeeding with no inhibitions.

All exhibiting artists will have their artwork featured on BreastfeedMIAMI's website, and select artists featured in BreastfeedMIAMI's annual calendar.
