  • Vila Galé Porto Ribeira — Porto, Portugal

    • A few minutes away from the historic center and the main tourist attractions, as well as from Lordelo do Ouro, a picturesque fishing area, Vila Galé Porto

Ribeira is a boutique hotel, resulting from the rehabilitation of four buildings in the area of Cais das Pedras, near the Old Customs House of Porto and about 10 kilometers from the Sá Carneiro airport.

Themed after the art of painting, this hotel in Porto stands just opposite the Douro, with a superb view of the river. Completely integrated into the urban reality of Cais das Pedras, it draws on its proximity to the riverside area of Porto. The hotel's reception and lobby keep a strong relationship with the river, allowing guests to enjoy the views.

  • Vila Galé Douro Collection — Douro Valley, Portugal

    • With a breathtaking view over the Douro River and the Tedo River, it is in the heart of the Douro Wine Region that the Vila Galé Douro Vineyards is set. With a strong component of agro and wine tourism, this unit extends across the centuries-old Val Moreira Estate (Quinta do Val Moreira), which was already present in the famous Baron Forrester’s map, created in the nineteenth century, which earned him the reputation of a cartographer.

On the south bank of the Douro River, near the picturesque village of Marmelal, the property where Vila Galé Douro Vineyards is set is very close to one of the two stone markers built by order of the Marquis of Pombal in 1757. These markers are classified as property of public interest, and they were used to demarcate the zone of Douro fortified wines.

Here you can enjoy the calm and silence, the scenery, but also the outdoor pool, the regional cuisine and large windows allow you to gaze at the surroundings.
But you may also enjoy tours to the wine cellar, as well as wine tastings of the Val Moreira brand’s Port and table wines, which are produced there.

    Who we are

TREE Institute International is a volunteer-operated, non-profit, charitable organization (501(c)(3)) that organizes and showcases adventure, cultural, educational, and conference trips to places where TREE conducts its mission work, including Cuba, Colombia, and Argentina. TREE has been taking group trips to Cuba for over 20 years. The TREE Institute holds an OFAC license issued by the US Treasury Department, allowing the organization to legally offer and oversee trips to Cuba. Upcoming trips are licensed and fully compliant with the new OFAC Regulations and meet all current travel requirements.

    What we do

The funds from our trips support projects in countries that US foundations do not fund. TREE is currently working with the Medellin Botanical Garden and the University of Antioquia in Medellin, Colombia, to study, propagate and create educational exhibits on the new plant species discovered in the Andes region. There is also medicinal research in Bogotá by Colombian scientists on Burgmansia, or Angel's Trumpet. The species Brugmansia arborea, golden angel's tangel's (B. aurea), B. insignis, red angel's tangel's (B. sanguinea), B. versicolor, and B. vulcanicola were distributed across the Andes region of South America, ranging from Colombia to northern Chile.
For more information on our projects, visit https://treeinstitute. org/our-projects/

We are all volunteers, and TREE spends no money on marketing or advertising our journeys. Most trips are filled with repeat participants, word-of-mouth referrals, and more!

We appreciate your support! Without you, these projects would not be possible.

YOU are helping to make a difference!
