Join the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee in collaboration with the Florida Holocaust Museum for a meaningful screening of Among Neighbors. After the 1 hour and 40 minute film, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a talkback by the filmmaker Yoav Potash - to further unpack the story behind the documentary and the difficult truths it brings forward.
Using beautiful hand-drawn animation to bring the past to life, "Among Neighbors" investigates the story of a small, rural town where the longstanding peace between Jewish and Polish neighbors was shattered by World War II. Now, in an era where difficult truths about the past are being silenced for political gain, the film focuses on the only living Holocaust survivor from the town, and an aging eyewitness who saw Jews murdered there. This is a free event.
