CHAMBER MUSIC PROGRAM
Director: Karl Lavine
The Chamber Music Program offers students ages 10 and up the opportunity to perform in small ensembles such as string quartets, woodwind quintets, and piano trios. Participants work closely with a professional coach throughout the season, developing collaboration, leadership, and independent musicianship. The program is open to WYSO orchestra members and qualified community musicians.
HARP ENSEMBLE
Director: Jenny DeRoche Christian
The Harp Ensemble offers harpists the opportunity to perform and study repertoire written or arranged specifically for multiple harps. Students develop ensemble and musicianship skills through weekly rehearsals and multiple performances throughout the year. Harpists should play for at least 3 years and be in at least fifth grade to join the ensemble as well as completing the same repertoire level as required for orchestral auditions (completed with Allegro in Suzuki 2 or equivalent repertoire level).
FLUTE CHOIR
Co-Directors: Danielle Breisach and Victoria Rockman
Flute Choir provides flutists, ages 10 and up, with an opportunity to explore a wide variety of repertoire written specifically for flute ensemble. Students develop ensemble, musicianship, and listening skills while performing music ranging from folk and classical works to contemporary arrangements. Participants should perform at least at a Concert Orchestra level or equivalent.
