    1. Truck Unloading Team

Three members of the truck unloading team will wheel the books into the office space on dollies, two members will stay on the truck, unloading boxes from the truck to the sidewalk (total of 5 team members required, boxes will weigh from 50 lbs. -100 lbs. to please take this into consideration if you are considering serving on this team).

    2. Triage Team

The Triage Team will, using box cutters, open each box of books after they are brought into the office.  All members of this team will need to download an app called Libib onto their personal phone, scan the QR code on the back of the book, and enter the quantity of books in the box (this is after written on the side of the box so no need to physically count).  One member of the team will need to be strong enough to lift the box after completing the inventory and place it into one of three stacks at the back of the store (there will be carts/dollies available):

    Stack 1:            Active Inventory

Stack 2:            Box for an OKR Partner/Event - Storeroom

Stack 3:            Leave in Original Packaging - Storeroom

(an Our Kids Read team member will staff this table to help volunteers determine which stack a book should be placed).

On the side of the box, a volunteer will need to write “K-2nd” or “3rd grade +” – again an OKR staff member can help make this determination if it’s not obvious.

    3. Boxing Books Team

The Boxing Books Team will be responsible for removing books from the Scholastic boxes in Stack #2 and placing them in unlabeled OKR 12” x 12” x 12” carboard boxes, filling any space at the top of the box with bubble wrap and sealing the box with packing tape.  A picture of the book cover will then need to be printed out and attached using a glue stick to the box (use the glue stick only on the top 2 inches of the printout so it is easy to remove before shipping).  Once the box is prepared, it will be placed in the back storeroom.  The volunteer placing the book in the storeroom should make a note of the books location and record it in the Boxed Books spreadsheet (will be provided, along w/laptop) – training will be provided.

    4. Storage Room Team

The Storage Room Team will be responsible for printing out a picture of the book cover and attaching it using a glue stick to the box (use the glue stick only on the top 2 inches of the printout so it is easy to remove before shipping).  Once the box is prepared, it will be placed in the back storeroom.  The volunteer placing the book in the storeroom should make a note of the books location and record it in the Surplus Book Inventory spreadsheet (will be provided, along w/laptop) – training will be provided.

    5. Unboxing/Binning Books Team

The Unboxing/Binning Books Team will unbox books in Stack #1 and place them in plastic bins (bins should be filled half full).  A photo of the book cover (or book covers, no more than two titles per bin) should be put into the plastic sleeve on the side of the bin.  The bin should be placed on one of the shelves in the 3 aisles of the warehouse (NOTE:  volunteer must note the location of the bin, for example, row A, bottom shelf, position 7, would be position “A-1-7”, this should be noted in a spreadsheet, “Active Inventory spreadsheet (spreadsheet will be provided, along w/laptop) – training will be provided.

    6. Utility Players/Runners/Office Clean-up Team

This team will be responsible to a number of miscellaneous tasks including:  breaking down boxes neatly, cutting them with utility knives and putting them inside larger boxes and taking them out to the U-Haul truck and putting them inside the truck.  General office clean-up is also a responsibility of this team.  If there is something another volunteer needs from the store, this team will drive to the local Home Depot/Walgreens to purchase it with an OKR credit card.  This team will be responsible for printing out and confirming lunch orders with each volunteer.  This team will also collect any trash, bag it and put it in the U-Haul truck and general do their best to keep the working spaces clean.
