• Fall 2026 Adult Choir Sign-Up Form

Fall 2026 Adult Choir Sign-Up Form

    For volunteers and paid professionals
  • Who is this form for?

    • Ordinary Choir: Catholic volunteers who feel called to enrich their weekly devotion at Sunday Mass by singing. Members sing unison melody in a limited vocal range. Members advance to singing the Proper of Mass as they are able. Buttressed by strength-in-numbers, Ordinary Choir is the most populous and foundational choir at the oratory.
    • Volunteer Schola: Confident volunteer men and women with a keen ear capable of singing in tune in a choral texture, and available for weekly rehearsal in addition to singing the Sunday Mass. The Schola's job is to complement the unison chant with simple-harmony motets.
    • Solemnity Schola: Trained vocalists seeking paid performance of masterpiece choral repertoire on a custom schedule. This ensemble adds brilliance to solemn feasts while complementing the Gregorian chant sung by the Ordinary Choir.
    • Men's Schola (Sanctuary Choir): Catholic adult men seeking a pious, fraternal environment in which to cultivate Gregorian Chant. This choir sings First Friday evening Masses, Funeral Requiem Masses, Tenebrae, and select solemnities.
    • Chant Class Students: Adult students of the Oratory's chant class looking to observe/apply what they've learned.
    • Preparatory Choir Apprentice Singers: Choristers who have been selected from the Preparatory Choir for demonstrating exemplary musicianship to receive realtime mentorship side-by-side with adult choir members at Mass.
  • What is the time commitment?

  • Ordinary Choir: 2.25 hours per week, Sunday mornings only. 45min choir call + 1.5hr Mass. Scroll down to "Ordinary Choir" to see exact dates/times.

  • Is there a rehearsal commitment?

  • For Ordinary Choir, no. Training in chant notation is provided in the oratory's semestral Chant Class and/or by appointment with Oratorio, the oratory's private music lesson provider. All music is reviewed in the 1hr call before Mass.

For Schola, yes. Rehearsals are weekly on Thursday nights, 8:00-9:30pm.
