Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based approach to faith formation that helps children encounter the love of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, in a deep and personal way. Through Sacred Scripture, the liturgy, hands-on materials, and quiet prayer, children learn to recognize God's voice and grow in their relationship with Him.

This formation takes place in the Atrium, a specially prepared and peaceful environment designed for children. In the Atrium, children engage with beautiful, tactile materials that help them understand the mysteries of our faith.

What Children Experience in the Atrium

Level I: Focuses on the Parable of the Good Shepherd, especially during the Lenten season. Children discover that the Good Shepherd calls each sheep by name, and the sheep recognize and follow Him.
Level II: Focuses on sacramental preparation and Jesus as the True Vine. (Only children who have completed Level I may enroll in Level II.)
St. Didacus will offer Levels I and II beginning in Fall 2026.

Photos, audio, or video may be used in printed materials and any other visual display or media. I understand that such photos and, for audio or video recordings will be used for St. Didacus Faith Formation related purposes and will not be used for any commercial purpose whatsoever. Good Shepherd Faith Formation, as a standard practice of communication with youth and families, will be utilizing social media, video conferencing, webinar, and virtual classroom software. Any photos posted on these sites will only utilize first names of youth and adults from the parish will not tag photos. Youth, however, may go on and tag/re-tweet photos. I therefore hereby waive any kind and all rights my child/ward or I may have for compensation of any kind, which could otherwise accrue for the use of such photos and/or audio or video recordings.
