New for SY26/27:

To better support schools in accessing high-quality residencies, schools may choose to apply for either:

• Up to $2,500 to fund school-day arts experiences such as performances/assemblies, field trips, and one-off workshops.

  • Performance/Assembly: Program where students watch a performance either at school or at a theater/venue. There may or may not be some interactive elements.

  • Workshop: Program where a partner provides a hands-on session for students/educators.

  • Arts/Cultural Institution Tour: Program where students/educators explore an arts/cultural institution.

• Up to $5,000 to fund school-day arts residencies.
  • Residency: Program where students/educators experience multiple hands-on sessions that build knowledge over time. May or may not involve a culminating experience.

Before submitting your application:

• Review AED's Arts Directory to identify your desired programs. Grant-funded programs must be booked through our Arts Directory.

• Confirm your school's eligibility: Schools may only receive one Arts Experience Fund grant during any given school year. 
  • If your school has already been awarded an Arts Experience Grant this school year, you are ineligible to receive another grant during the current school year. (the map on our grant page updates every Thursday and shows all grant recipients) 
  • If your school is one of our 11 Arts Every Day School Partners, you are ineligible to receive an Arts Experience Grant.
  • If your school is one of the district's 5 separate public day schools, you have access to our Arts Accessibility Fund instead of this broader grant.

• Collaborate with administration and staff at your school: Because schools may only receive one Arts Experience Fund Grant, it is highly encouraged to coordinate with other staff at your building to ensure equity of access.

This section of the application asks for information about the specific program(s) you wish to book using grant funding. Please reference program details and costs from the Arts Directory when completing this section to ensure clarity.

In order to be considered for this grant, the total cost for all requested programs should be no more than $2,500 if requesting trips, workshops, or assemblies and no more than $5,000 if requesting residencies.

If you are requesting funding for multiple programs, please enter each program separately. 

If you are requesting transportation to a program, please enter transportation as a separate program, ie: Program 1, tickets to a show or museum; Program 2: AED-Funded Transportation to the show or museum. We recommend schools estimate $450-$500 per bus and buses seat 44.

Applications will be reviewed on Thursdays throughout the above application windows. Applications received after 9am Thursday will be reviewed the following Thursday. Schools will be notified of application status within 7 days. Notification emails will be sent on Fridays. This timeline may be subject to change based on holidays.
