Swim Ulster in partnership with Sport NI, Swim Ireland invite you to take part in this FREE Get Wet Stay Safe session being held at Cushendun Beach.
The details are as follows:
Date: Saturday 15th August 2026
Times: 13:00-14:00
Venue: BT44 0PX Glenmona House carpark opposite the beach not the house.
The session will provide the following topis and skills:
- Land Based
- Dynamic risk assessing
- Water safety code
- Flags and Signage
- Equipment suggestions
- Planning your post swim recovery
- Cold water shock/hypothermia
- Wind,waves, tides and currents
- Water Based
- Entries
- Cold water acclimatisation
- Flotation, rotation and orientation
- Treading water
- Float to live
- Emergency signalling
- Exits and implementing your post recovery
Pre-requisties: Be over 18yrs of age and be able to swim
Equipment: Wetsuits are NOT mandatory, but the water will be cold so we recommend that a wetsuit is worn if you have one.
If you have a tow float please bring this with you to use, if you don't have one it will be provided for you to use during the session.
You will be given a FREE swim hat to use during the session which is then yours to keep afterwards.
