We believe that accessible safety from all forms of violence for Black women, girls, trans and gender nonconforming people lies in a world without policing where all of our needs are met accessibly and abundantly; in which our communities are not a just a place, but a way of being committed to violence prevention, intervention, healing, and transformative justice; and where we nurture a luscious an abundant imagination and live into the maintenance of safety, liberation, and freedom.

In Our Names Network works to prevent and demand accountability for individual cases and systemic police violence against Black women, girls, trans and gender nonconforming people. We do this by supporting and amplifying calls to action, resources and local campaigns of network members, and leveraging our collective power through nationally networked campaigns to bring about systemic change.

Our members engage in visionary organizing aimed at dismantling systems of policing as they operate on Black women, girls, trans and gender nonconforming people's bodies and life chances, and build new ways of preventing, interrupting, and ending gender-based violence so that all Black women, girls, trans, and gender nonconforming people can not only survive but thrive free from all forms of violence.

The Black Feminist Vision to End the Drug War campaign developed its goals from our transnational convening report and framework. The campaign is comprised of members from the Network to support Black women, girls, trans, and gender non-conforming people who are impacted by the drug war and police violence.

Over 6 months, the cohort will research and connect with organizations and grassroots groups that have Black feminist values providing aid and care to survivors of the war on drugs.

Articles and video content published will highlight the organization, their contact information, a list of local resources, and policy updates based on the issue or region. These articles will create a catalog that will be feature examples of Black transnational & queer leadership against the drug war.

1. Tell stories about drugs that are not stigmatizing.
2. Create an interactive catalog of groups with Black feminist values to start the global care network.
3. Make Black feminist spaces accessible and welcoming for Black women, girls, trans, and gender non-conforming people who use drugs.
4. Create space for monthly dialogue about the drug war and connect geographically proximate organizations.
5. Explain the impacts of drug criminalization for Black women, girls, trans, and gender nonconforming people through long form written articles or short reel based content for social media. 

To support with capacity and expand the network's research, we are contracting Black Feminist Vision to End the Drug War catalogers to support in amplifying the work of organizations that have unique skills in supporting Black women, girls, trans, and gender non-conforming people who may use drugs. This cohort is responsible for researching the organizations doing the work, reviewing the policies they wrestle with, and writing the articles that highlight them. 

The catalogers will meet with our Network members bi-weekly and submit monthly content for editorial review and guidance. They'll identify partners for the global care network, a clear landscape analysis for the war on drugs transnationally, and local power potential for In Our Names Network membership.
