Course Eligibility
To be eligible for an AFC/Football Australia B Diploma course, applicants must have:
• A valid AFC/Football Australia C Diploma or a valid C Diploma not issued by
Football Australia that is formally recognised by the AFC and Football Australia.
• At least one year’s coaching experience as a C Diploma holder.
• Eighteen (18) years of age or older at time of application.
• Resume of coaching experience and positions held.
• Letter of recommendation from your current club.
• A valid Working with Children Check or state/territory equivalent.
Please note, if you a serving a suspension from football activity at time of the application, this will be taken into consideration when reviewing your application. Additionally, if you receive a suspension during the course, Football Australia and Member Federations reserve the right to remove you from the course at any time.
A B Diploma course candidate must have a clear understanding of player and team
development and coaching at youth/amateur level and must demonstrate competence in the following four (4) areas: plan, prepare, conduct and evaluate.
The B Diploma course content and tasks are tailored for coaches coaching in
youth/amateur football environments.
The Member Federation Technical Department will consider several factors, including but not limited to:
• Those currently coaching within the Semi-Professional Game in Australia as part of NPL or NPLW senior competitions or if applicable, Member Federation input other
senior competitions for example FNSW League One Mens.
• Those currently coaching within Member Federation Talent Development Programs and/or A-League Academies.
• Those currently coaching within roles that require a B Diploma will be taken into
consideration; however, this is not a guarantee of acceptance.
• Applicant’s experience.
• C Diploma competency.
• Session plan.
• Member Federation and Football Australia consultation.
Each application is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
The decision is at Member Federation Technical Department’s discretion. All decisions are made in keeping with Football Australia and the AFC Coaching Convention. The decision of the Member Federation Technical Department is final and there are no grounds for appeal.
