Teacher Guidelines –
Accountability and Oversight
As a teacher within the Olive Grove Christian School system, you are directly accountable to your local school board. You are expected to attend board meetings and provide regular updates on classroom progress, challenges, and any needs or concerns.
School Activities
All field trips, service projects, or off-campus events must receive prior approval from the local school board. Activities should reflect our school's commitment to modesty, safety, biblical values, and practical learning.
Compensation and Substitute Policy
You will be paid in equal payments throughout the school year, as arranged by the board. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find a suitable substitute. Olive Grove School will pay up to 5 days for a substitute teacher. Additional days will be your responsibility to pay the substitute teacher. Substitute teachers should align with the school's values and expectations.
Property Use
Outdoor play should be confined to areas approved by the board for safety and stewardship reasons. It is the local school boards responsibility to maintain the property, but we will need your help to make them aware if something needs to be addressed.
Philosophy of Education
Learning should be joyful and meaningful. Teaching these children is not just a job—it is a sacred trust. Your goal is to engage each student in a manner that cultivates curiosity, godly character, and love for truth. Instruction should be varied and lively, making education a memorable and enriching experience.
Behavior and Discipline
Remain alert to any form of disrespect, unkind teasing (especially involving boys and girls), or conduct that undermines the dignity of others. Such behavior is not to be tolerated. Discipline must be administered in a spirit of love and wisdom—never in anger. Always explain the reason for correction and aim to reach the child's heart. Let the weight of understanding guide your discipline more than the rod itself. Balance firmness with gentleness, and correction with encouragement. Thank you for answering the call to teach in this ministry. May the Lord bless you with His grace and wisdom. May He guide your words, sustain your spirit, and fill your heart with joy and patience as you serve these precious souls.
"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." Colossians 3:23
